DIY 335 Service Light Reset

hey guys

there is another DIY in this forum on how to reset the service lights for an e90 325 / 330. I attempted to use this guide to reset my brake fluid light and oil change light - since my dealer forgot to do so :slap.

Unfortunately it does not work.

So here goes my guide.

Items you are going to use:

-the BC button on the stalk to the left side of the steering wheel
-the scroll on the same stalk (its a toggle - similar to the one on the stalk that controls the windshield wipers).
-the little button on the bottom left of the speedometer guage - the button that resets the mileage counter.

Instructions:

1. Get in your car
2. close the door
3. insert key
4. turn car on (engine running)
5. click the BC button until Time / Temperature shows - for me I have adaptive headlight errors etc.
6. hold down the odometer button and the BC button at the same time. the miles will go to 0 for a second and then the screen should disappear and you should see an orange triangle with an exclamation point on it.
7. continue holding the buttons until you see either an oil symbol or brake symbol ((O))
8. Once you are at this point - you can scroll up and down with the toggle on the BC Stalk.
9. Scroll to the item you need to "reset" - for me it was brake fluid and oil change
10. Once you get to the item you need, hold down the BS button.
11. You will be prompted to "reset?"
12. Hold down the BC button again and you are resetting
13. You will see a small "clock" rotating counter clockwise - its resetting!
14. Drive away or turn off the car and you should be good to go!

I will make a video of this and post it online!

Happy resetting!

Nope, I have idrive, and it worked the same. Just follow the in-dash message, not your navi-screen

Any idea why the date and mileage were added to the original date/mileage during the reset?

I'd changed the oil/filter myself before the required schedule. Now the mileage for the next oil change is 19K and 2 years from now.

Sometimes, learning can be so frustrating. Especially if you don't have the tools.

Excellent. Thank you. This, 15 minutes and a 28.00 microfilter from Bavauto saved me over 100.00 and the time it takes to go to and from the dealer.

Thanks for the help. I can't believe the owners manual doesn't have this in it.
