Eccentric shaft sensor needs replacing ?
Hey,
so backstory, got the 2A38 code, and only that one using a Carly. Took off the eccentric shaft sensor connector and here's the picture before any cleaning but I'm not sure if that means it needs replacing ? Should I be looking at the eccentric shaft motor instead ? |

Looks as if the seal failed on the sensor causing oil to seep through the terminal ports. So yes you need a new sensor/sensor seal...an possibly a few other items since the valve cover needs removing
If i remember correctly someone said you are able to remove the seal (prying it out) without removing the valve cover?

I have the same issue and will be replacing the ESS (VDO unit), valve cover (OEM kit from ECS Tuning) and might do the MILVS upgrade while I'm at it.
Waiting for my broken finger to heal and the weather to warm up. |
