run flat tires required to buy the extended warranty

Hey guys,

The 3 year lease on my 335i coupe is up in October, so my dealership contacted me. I expressed interest in buying the car as well as getting the extended warranty. (The car has about ~40,000 miles on it) They told me that the car would have to be certified to get the extended warranty, and they can't certify it with the non run flat tires I just had put on last March. I really don't want to go back to using run-flats. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

It makes sense that they would require the run flats on when they certify the car. The vehicle has to conform to BMW's guidelines, and the car comes originally equipped with them.

just buy some used ones to put on in the mean time.

Borrow someone's stock wheels and RFTs for the certification.

Do you think they will recheck his car when he brings it in during the extended period?

I've had non run flats for the past few months and have brought it in for warranty service unrelated to the tires.

I wonder how hard it will be to find used tires with enough tread on them. Someone else suggested that I buy some new run flats then sell them right away for a couple hundred bucks off.

With all the trouble I have to go through, I wonder if it's even worth it to get the extended warranty.
