I read somewhere on the internet this weekend that if you hold the TCS button after starting the car (and before moving it) for approx 10 seconds you can enter another TCS mode that will apply brakes to the wheel that loses traction without cutting engine power.

I haven't tried it yet.

TSC is what you have on F-Bodies (Camaro & Firebird)..... You are now in the world of DSC....

DSC, TCS whatever you would like to call it, the point is that's the button this is regarding.

I'm familiar with the differences, just trying to make a point about the "thing I didn't know".

At firt I though it was just going to the nearest multiple of 5. But I know that I've had it go from 81 to 83 mph for example.
Pushing or pulling up to the resistance point will increase/decrease speed in 1 mph increments. Pushing or pulling beyond the resistance point will increase/decrease speed by up to 5 mph. Holding it at the resistance point will increase/decrease speed until released and holding it beyond the resistance point will rapidly increase/decrease speed in increments of up to 5 mph until released. Usually the first increase/decrease results in the speed going to the first multiple of 5 and then in 5 mph steps afterwards. This is how mine works and it corresponds to what the manual says.

OK - but you just press DTC button to enter the mode that doesn't interupt engine power (at lower speeds anyway). Pressing and holding de-activates the stability systems entirely.:

You obviously have never driven on an English motorway. The lorries will blink once and change lanes no matter how close you are to their rear bumper. Then they'll poke along at 56 mph taking two or three minutes to overtake another lorry doing 55 mph. I swear they'll pull side by side and place bets on how many cars they can trap behind them in a given period of time.

Maybe you didn't understand my first post.

What I'm trying to say is that I heard that there is ANOTHER mode of DSC that will allow braking to the wheel that loses traction while not cutting engine power. It's a feature that would be used on the track and is a way to help compensate for not having a limited slip differential.

Thanks for that explanation. I knew there had to be a way to get two or 3mph increments. So I guess there are actually eight distinct operations:

+1
-1
+1 repeatedly
-1 repeatedly
+5

That's true. But all I was saying was that I _do_ drive at a constant speed in response to someone who said that nobody does.

That's cool. I was just pointing out that using cruise control here is (almost) a waste of time because as soon as you set it, the bloomin' lorries will cut in front of you and you're then back to foot control.

You are not alone - bus drivers do that too in the city; I think there is an international guild and that must part of their training manual......

Those yellow school buses are the worst on the road...followed by taxi cabs and vans...

UGH!!!!

Is it possible for someone to post a summary of all of these "secrets/cheat codes/etc" so that we don't have to flip through 17+ pages?
Then it could be made a sticky!

P.S. I'm stuck on level 14 and I need to know how to get past the troll with the double sided ax and my BFG doesn't seem to do the trick! I've heard that double clicking my paddle shifters at the right RPM will get me through. Thoughts?

Yes - that mode is called DTC and you activate it by pressing the button once.

Press and hold to turn everything off.

You must have both active cruise and active steering to get past the troll. Sorry.

This is probably common knowledge but when at high speeds (100+), the brakes tighten up significantly and have much more race-like stopping ability. This can actually be a lifesaver, because I was hitting 120+ one time and had to stop short. The brakes were PHENOMENAL in their ability to quickly and precisely stop the car. The same goes for the steering which is absolutely wonderful at high speeds. It will tighten up automatically.

+1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe its cuz i was so used to doing high speeds in my old beater car ... but there have been times where i thought i was seriously going to fly off the road because of how fast i was approaching the turn on the exit or slam into someone from behind. I have had my life saved also when i had to make a sudden turn on a very narrow two lane road in some part of jersey that had no side bars to prevent a car from flying off the cliff.. my heart went my DSC KICKED IN and i felt the car do its magic!
