which CSL type 18" wheels???
Hi All
Looking for bit of advice, currently got MV3s on my car and considering changing the wheels to CSL type ones which I really like the look of. I want to stick with 18" as I recently changed my rubber all round after ditching the RFTs. The tyres I got are Conti 5, 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear if it makes any difference. Also got spacers - 10mm in front and 15mm at back, don't know if I'd be able to use these with the new wheels or even need them?? I've got no idea about offsets etc??? Been looking around at loads of pics of these types of wheels to see how they'd look on my le mans blue - they do look good! I'm just confused as to where to look for them and what make/quality? There's VMR, Alufelgen and many others with similar styles. I also seen various ones on ebay like these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18-CSL-STY...ht_2097wt_1396 - these any good?? they are good price. Just want to know where should I look for best quality/price. To be honest my thinking is this shouldn't cost me a lot - if im selling or trading in my MV3s the new ones should be a similar price? Or am I wrong?? Any ideas??? Thanks |

Thanks for the reply!
They do look good and are a good price. But wasnt sure whether the BMW centre cap would fit, also theres no space for the small MSport badge??? Seen some others on ebay that are similar and do have space for MSport badge Yea also heard of BMAutosport - but heard negative comments recently here in terms of their quality. theyre also too far away from me. the 2 i found on ebay are close to me - id rather buy in person if spending that amount of money so i can be sure im happy with the quality I saw the Alufelgen group buy recently but theyre for 19" and a chap called Chris was mentioned. Anyone know if he supplies 18" CSL types and where he is based. any others? Cheers |

Chris does CSL's, I know he does 19" but most likely would do 18" as well.
He's based in Northern Ireland but he specialises in supplying wheels to the mainland. Personally Id wait till you need rubber again, 18" don't look as good as 19". |

I had my mv3s changed to the csl type 6 months ago by Motorsport Wheels. My new csl wheels are identical in offsets etc. I had to purchase new centre caps off Ebay to fit the slightly smaller holes, no problem, 5 for £10. The colour is platinum silver which is spot for my car, sparkling graphite. This wheel colour has different names depending on the manufacturer, some call it shadow chrome or hyper black i believe.

+1 for mark at BM Autosport!! top guy. O.P I see what you're saying about the tires. I have an E90 in LMB and i think the 19's set it off perfectly. Would reccomend you sell the contis and invest in new wheels and tires. Its either that or get the 18" CSL reps in an aggresive offest and consider dropping the car so that you will fill the arches more.
What are you thinking of doing at the mo? |

Someone from this forum put 18" CSLs from BM Autosport recently and there are some photos. They looked great. Have a search of the forum to see what you come up with.
EDIT Here you go: E91 on CSL wheels |

OP what colour is your car?
I would suggest to go for Smoked or gunmetal colour. Standard silver are very common these days. I have gone for 19's. Rubber is pretty expensive on those, if you want new tyres. Go for 18's and they do not look bad at all. As suggested earlier, ask Chris or get from reputable seller.

Thanks for all the replies guys!
I know the 19" would look better but I just cant justify that now after only just changing my tyres all round recently. If I change them it will be 18" I will check out BMAutoSport again and Chris too! Although both of these are miles away from me. Can anyone suggest anybody in the midlands?? Also do people think I will get a decent price for my MV3s to pay for these? :-) Cheers |
