Hit a pothole and...
...it damaged my newly installed KW V3 suspension. Basically CALTRANS left a giant hole in the 101 in San Rafael which I hit at ~60 mph. Didn't think too much about it until I was looking in the front left wheel well. Noticed that the black plastic part at the top of the shock was shattered. It looks like this part is there to protect the shaft of the shock as it slides in and out of the shock body. Do I have this right? What will be the short and long term effects of not having this part? From looking at the right side, the plastic doesn't appear to make a seal with the shock itself.
So far the car seems fine, maybe only a slight alignment issue, but no shaking or noises. BTW, I am filing a claim with CALTRANS once I get some estimates... |

That sucks dude. Similar thing happened to me In Burlingame. There's a lot of construction on the Peninsula offramp from 101 north so I hit a huge pothole and cracked a wheel and damages the tire. The tire was covered but I had to buy a wheel. Oh well shit happens I guess. I just wish California would improve the road quality 'cus I think we're ranked 3rd worst in the country.
