Hi!

I'm new to the forums and I'm a newly minted BMW owner! I noticed there are regional threads for the major city centers in Canada but not for the Northern folks like me. I'm from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and I'd like to connect with any other local BMW owners for social and technical purposes. Like, where do I get an oil filter for my car around here? lol So, yeah throw me a friend request and let me know where you are! Even if you aren't local.

You should join the BMW True North group on FB. They also have a web page which you should google for more info. It's not specifically for people as far north as you, but gives you lots of local support.

I'm in Sudbury, and I haven't seen many other BMW owners from here on the forums. As far as filters go, I ordered a case of 6 BMW filters a few months back off of eBay. It'll be some time before I use them all, but I got a good deal on them. BTW welcome to the forums!

I'll bet Sudbury has more owners than the Sault. I figured I'd end up ordering the filters. I checked at Canadian Tire and they didn't stock any. And thanks for the welcome!

RockAuto has a good selection of them, and their prices are fair. Is there a US dealer close to the border?

Closest dealer is in Traverse City, Michigan which is about a 3.5 hr drive. So I think my best bet is ordering online. I like the idea of ordering a case of filters all at once so I don't have to worry about it for a couple of years :P

Every time I go on road trips, I don't see too many BMWs in smaller towns. Mostly domestics.

When I need parts from a dealer, another good option is Endras BMW. Email them and ask for the "MaxBimmer Discout" which is 20% off list. Shipping is reasonable too. I just bought coolant and a bunch parts I needed for a mod I'm working on. Georgian BMW ships too and they're nice to deal with. The parts guy seemed very knowledgeable when I talked to him but they don't give as good of a discount as Endras.

Thanks but I found out that the Advance Auto Parts in Sault Michigan carries the Mann filters for only $12 US ($16 Canadian). They also carry Mahle filters for $11 US (less than $15 Canadian). So I have a nice cheap source for filters minutes away from me.
