Mtec v3 vs. v4 angel eye side-by-side comparison

Recently a co-worker of mine just finished installing his new Mtech V4 LED angel eyes. I have had my ver. 3's for a while and have loved every second with them. So when it came time for him to upgrade his angel eyes it wasn't a very hard sell to convince him to get the higher wattage ver. 4's (6 watts vs 9 watts). With them side by side at work just after the sun went down we figured it would be a great oppertunity to take some comparison shots.

See the pictures for yourself. His ver. 4's are on the left and mine are on the right, it is worth noting that I have coded out my amber running lights. The pictures were taken with an iphone5 without flash. The first pic is him centered between the two cars. The other two pics are him directly in front of the cars.

Both lights claim to be 7000k colour temperature, but it is clear to see that his lights (ver 4) are far closer to pure white, or around 4300k (look towards the center, away from the amber running lights). My ver. 3's are closer to the claimed 7000k but in person look less blue than the in the pictures, maybe more like 6000k.

His lights do look slightly brighter but you really have to look closely to notice the difference in light output. Ultimately the choice is yours, if you're to decide between the two do it because of the colour temperature you want, not the brightness levels.

Finally some side by side comparison pictures
Both of them looks very bright. To a point that I cant even see 4 rings from the pic
Will you able to see 4 full rings in person in direct sunlight with either of these?

You need to understand these pics were taken from an iPhone in a low light situation so they look more blasted out. The pictures only really capture the colour temperature difference. I can assure you that they are not overly bright and the halos are very crisp and clear at night without that over bright-blasted out look. They are visible in direct sunlight but obviously seem less bright.

Thanks for the pics. I've been thinking about selling my lux v3 and getting the mtechs. I wish both cars had the corners deleted for a more accurate comparison. For that matter I wish I had mine coded out as well. I just can't find any local coders.

You are correct, the V4 are more of a pure white. They are definitely brighter than mine (V3's), but both offer a considerable upgrade from the stock angel eyes.

I uploaded another pic of the V4's, its during an overcast day taken with my iPhone4. You can see they are very nice even pure white colour.

Thread bump.

... Great comparison shots.

I almost like the more bluish look in the v3s ... But I am about to buy v4s just because they are newer and well, newer is better right?

...I have stock xenons, pre lci, if I get the v4 angel eyes, should I upgrade any other lights to match or does oem headlights look ok?

... I guess I should turn my DRLs off too?

Wait, so the car with the blue lights has the Mtec V3 installed?

The lights on the left don't look good, the white with blue tint looks awesome imo.

You are correct the more blueish lights are the V3's. Its a matter of what look you are going for, the V4 are brighter though.

If you are upgrading your AE's I wouldn't worry too much about the stock Xenon's, the stock lights are a close match. What ends up looking crap is your fog lights. I upgraded my fogs to GP Thunder 7500k fogs and they match alright, would probably match better to the V4's if anything. Depending on what year you have you can code out the DRL's and I would suggest getting rid of the corner ambers while you are at it!

the MTEC V4's are pure white output with no blue, the difference from V3 to V4 is the CREE led which produces more lumens output, the design is exactly the same
