Got Robbed Today

I left my house at 8:30, my roommate left at 11:45. I got home at 3 and I walked in and my door frame is busted down. The front door was dead bolted and somehow they used some sort of "A" shape looking tool to pound the door in, there is a dent on the door. They took my tvs and my laptop. They tried to take other things but seem like they got spooked and left. Just soooo mad right now, I don't really care about the tvs but my laptop, I would do anything to get that back. All the files on there and everything.

just a short rant

I'm assuming you took the proper measures and filed a report etc?

But bats and revolvers with some drinking can bring similar results.

Sorry about the incident.

Maybe I'm a dick, but how do you wind up in a situation driving a e92 m3 but living with a roomate??

Edit, let me rephrase that, I'm not trying to be a dick, but how do you end up in that situation?

You didn't get robbed. You got burgled.

Anyway, sorry to hear that. Did any neighbors see anything?

Tons of people drive cars like that who really can't actually afford them.

Welcome to the self entitled generation.

Roommate could be his friend for all you know, living off of OP like a GF.

Get off your high horse and let's not jump to any conclusions. There are lots of people, myself included, who prefer to live with a roommate than alone. A roommate can have nothing to do with money.

Oh and sry about your loss... Sucks big time

Did I say anything about anyone in particular? NO. Is it a fact people usually live with roomates to save money, yes. Is it a fact that the majority of the current 2Xs are self entitled, live out of their means, and purchase things they really can't afford because they feel they "deserve" it, yes.

Simply pointing out to that poster that it's not rare for someone to have a car like that who lives with a roommate to save money.

Have a nice day.

OP: Sorry to hear about this.

I can't believe people nowadays don't have better security. Sheesh, a thousand bucks and your secure. 1 hidden computer, cameras and battery backup and you're in biz! I keep an eye on all my toys no matter where I am.
If you need info, let me know. Leaving home without proper security (to me) is like leaving with the door wide open.

When I lived in Baltimore I learned the hard way that 90% of robberies in cities are hood kids or crack heads/drug addicts (i see you live in dallas) and the other 10% are pros. The kids sneak in through a 1 foot by 8 inch air conditioning vent, or slide through that 6 inch crack on safety windows, they even got in IN BETWEEN the security bars I had on my windows on my house in baltimore. They run in with a backpack while another kid keeps watch, take everything they can and run away faster than you can run, all while you're not at home.

the pros just break down a flimsy door. If they think someone's home they wont even bother. They watch you for days and plan. Best thing to do is to get a security system. Doesn't even matter if it's connected to the actual police because the thieves will be long gone by the time police get there whether they decide to steal stuff or not. Just get a LOUD AS FUCK one that your neighbors 6 streets down can hear. Nobody's gonna want to stick around when something like that is blaring. Also, if you ARE being watched, thieves tend to go for the easiest targets so if they observe you punching in a security code every time you enter or exit the house, they'll find somewhere else that's easier to rob.

Sorry to hear about it OP. Take it from me, I've had my house broken into multiple times, been held up at gunpoint, been accosted by crack heads. I know what it's like. I want to bash some heads in too. I've thought about guns and guard dogs, but the best thing is really a loud-ass security system.
