Standard (base) speakers RMS?

Does anyone know how much the standard (base) speakers can take in terms of watts RMS?

Sparky - the door speakers
Thanls mak, I presume mine are 4 ohm. I am still decidng what components to get up front to replace the L7 and then put the L7 in the rear fill only and amp the lot.

But in the meantime I have 2 channels free on my amp so thought might try amping the rear standard speakers with the gains turn right down to the minimum but seeing what power they can take I may leave it for the time being as I dont want to damage them

I'd check the impedence of your OEM drivers. BMW TIS shows that few CCC sound system came with 2 ohm impedence drivers.

If you are discussing L7 drivers, then they are 40W (again 2 & 4 ohm variants).

What amp are you using to power SWS-8s?

Mak I thought the L7 mids were rated at 70w RMS at 4 ohms?
Once the weather is a bit better I will check the ohms on the speakers - not much fun working in the back of a coupe lol

Using an old school 2 channel phoenix gold amp for the subs. But i am lacking the kick a normal sub gives you.
I have been reading around the IB sub through ski hole and seeing Mob17 thread a few weeks back has given me ideas. Was talking about this with my cousin the other day and he has suggested 2 x 8" subs through the ski hole in a sealed box.

However after reading Kaigoss reply in one of the threads on the main audio saying he has tried various types of subs/enclosure combination but IB through ski hole preference. This has made me think to experiment down this route

It is 40W as per TIS. And hence you keep the gains at minimum on XD 400/4 when using L7 mids.

Are you using XD 400/4 pre-out to phoenix, so XD 400/4 is also converting your differential signals to normal signals?

I am not expert but my findings are very similar to Kaigoss and I am speaking from the experience gained by my first IB installation in 1997. My findings are on my thread. You may get some ideas, though follow the sky hatch route.

Re: 8 inch subs in to a sealed box and putting it in front of ski hole...it may work. There is no harm in experimenting it if you already have 2 X 8 inch subs sitting at your place.

However if you plan to buy a sub, I would suggest to go for minimum 12 inch sub and you do not have to spend mega money to do it. A sub in £50 range with correct specs should do the job.
HTHs.

Ahh I thought they were rated at 70 W RMS but the gains are already very low now

Yes, I read in the manual it coverts it to a normal signal but the PG amp wont stay in too long as it is quite old and tends to overheat (think the fan is on its way out) but I thought I would try a bit of experimenting plus its not secured down properly. My plan is to keep everything hidden away but due to the size of the PG it wont go under the boot carpet.

I will have a look at your link when I get back to my laptop. I only have a old 12" JL audio W3v2 spare which I could possibly use to experiment with. I need to research a bit more regarding box/IB construction as this is quite new to me
Thanks

EDIT - I have read that link, what is your IB setup at the moment?

^^^
JL 12W7 + JL 1000/1 v2 + 2F Capacitor.

very very happy with the sub setup.

I only wish if I could fit 2X12 subs in the rear (as I always had 2X12s). Never mind, sound quality is excellent and very little distraction to pedestrians.
