Secondary cat delete, 409 SS tubing?

Hi there guys

Stock 335i apart from JB4 BMS DCI.

Im getting on the golf tee mod but I'm also going to a sec cat delete for a bit of a louder throatier sound, gonna weld them back on when i get catless DP's.

I have a e92.

What is the diameter of the piping needed?

and I've heard the factory use 409 SS tubing? If not what would be okay to use? thanks

I think its 2.5" piping?

The e92 as far as I'm aware has no resonator.

Never really got under my car to have a look at the OEM setup, but as far as i can see, the primary cats are at the top, then you have a x pipe sort of, more piping then to the muffler.

Heres a guy selling his setup, but can someone advise me weather the pieces on the left are the primaries and in the middle are those the secondaries?

waste of money, just get the dps and leave the stock exhaust.

Use the JB4 to keep CAN flap open, and you won't need the golf tee mod

try to golf tee mod first. I have Can flap open and it's not too bad. I am putting on DP next month and I don't want the crazy smell.

Save the money your gunna spend on the sec car delete and put that toward dps... Do it right the first time even of it takes a little longer

I'm actually trying to keep mods to a minimum as I'm saving up to move into the V8 world of a m3

I know ill probably get bashed for this one, but maybe a M6...

that v10 is a thing of beauty.

304 SS is fine to use, provided the welder uses proper welding techniques. 409 has a higher iron content which makes it tougher, but it corrodes more than 304. However, 304 can crack over time, especially at the welds.

But otherwise, the primary cats are more restrictive than the secondaries. I'd rather remove the stock DPs than take the time/money to remove secondary cats as far as power upgrades go.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up.

Finding it hard to get 409 actually in the UK, maybe 304 will be easier

Does anyone know how long the pipe will need to be to cover both cats?

Obviously there both on a bend, so I'm guessing ill need a bit more.

Can anyone chime in?
