BMW of Sterling: Forum-Friendly Advisor?
Decided to do away with BMW of Fairfax, and I'm looking for any feedback regarding Sterling's service advisors. Does anyone who uses Sterling regularly know which advisors are involved in the community, or if any are mod-friendly? I like to cut to the chase with any advisor I work with, and one who is involved in the community, or at least takes care of other forum members, is definitely preferred.

Mathew juliar is at Sterling, and I had used him in the past with great success. This was prior to having mods though.
There is a new guy named Mike (can't remember last name) that works at Fairfax though, and he coincidentally lives right beside me, so I think i will use him in the future. He seems very friendly. |

Anyone I have ever talked to has had nothing but horrible things to say about BMW of sterling. I personally went there to look at a 2011 335 that was advertised on autotrader and after deciding to come in and buy it they raised the price almost $7,000. I was scared to take my '08 in for the battery cable recall but everything went pretty smooth so I cant complain about that.

I was actually right in the middle of scheduling an appointment for regular service when I saw this thread.
Who should I pick as my SA? It's only regular service (brake light issue, resetting service code etc) but I'd rather pick someone on these forums than just randomly pick a name like I usually do :P |

Sorry about the car buying experience, i understand your frustration with that case. i don't know why that would happen, everything I've seen go through we honor our pricing online. The service area here is great though please don't let the bad experience you had at the showroom keep you from our service facility. When, and if you come here ill swing in to service and talk for a few minutes.

Its no big deal i guess. I prolly shoulda went in there making a scene with the autotrader listing in my hand but I didnt want it that bad. I was pretty set on an N54. They claimed that after putting it through service and making it a CPO car they had that much in it, but who knows. I doubt ill be up there again but im sure well see each other around.

Me and my partner at work are planning on doing some meet and greets on Sundays at the dealership when it is closed, to try and get people together for possible group cruises and social events we will be setting up for BMW enthusiasts. So hopefully we can meet there, and change your perspective about us |

Sounds like a good time, Ghost. If I ever get my 335 out of service, I'd like to do something like that, especially if it's at a dealership. It's funny, though. This thread has mentioned both Mike from Fairfax who I used before switching to Sterlin, and Matt Juliar, who I'm using now!
I guess according to the foreman in the service department, I need a new transmission because of a hard shift from 2nd to 3rd. Who knows if that's really the truth, but we'll see what my warranty company says. I might be looking to custom order a new M-Sport 335 if things go south. PM me your information, Ghost. I might be up there soon, whether it be the service center or your showroom. |

I don't know Julian Kim, but I am sure he is also a really good guy to go to. The only reason I recommend Ted is because of Shane! Shane has taken care of a lot of forum members, so you can't go wrong with him servicing your ride. Regardless of who you go to, make sure Shane takes care of the vehicle.

I've had reasonably decent experiences w/ Sterling (I live almost in walking distance from them) but anything that you have to pay for, they are very expensive. As in ludicrously, "how do you justify charging me this" expensive - if you look up list price for parts on realoem or Tischer they are charging over MSRP on parts and their labor rate must be something like $200 an hour... except for programming, they charged me $125 to code in my alarm and my Sirius module and they had so many updates to do they probably lost money on that deal!
If you don't mind spending the money they have always treated me well, although I've heard stories as well. Ted has been my SA for everything that I've had done there I think. |

So I talked to Matt Juliar for advice (referred to by someone on the forums). I was trying to get my turbo rattle resolved as it is a huge nuisance. He told me to go back to FFX and talk to Lazlo when its not busy. Matt was extremely helpful and very nice. FFX never fixed my annoying rattle .
Then I got a letter in the mail from Sterling saying that they wud offer me 115% of the KBB value on my car..sweet! Took the car in, they offered me $7500 for my 2007 black e92 with 57k miles coral red interior...car is also in really good condition. Apprarently the tinted windows and after market wheels (still have OEM wheels at home) degrade value by over $13k??? I wasnt born yesterday. Not happy at all.
