Talking Hi-Fi Stereo upgrade. (what is the first Port of call??)

Hey Fella's

I know this has probably been talked about a lot but I would like to clarify a few things.

I have the Proffesional head Unit in my E90 m-sport with the Hifi Stereo system, the central speakers under the seats are pathetic to say the least...

Rather than Jump in and start throwing stupidly big speakers into the car i am looking to upgrade the Amp first.

Can anyone shed some light on what Amp is best suited? I would prefer a plug and play amp.

Thank you in advance.

Carl

Jl xd600/6 is the standard drop in for the Hi Fi system
why it has 6 channels(same as Hi Fi) , It fits in the OEM position ,
Its high quality and very efficient , It has the balanced Inputs that
match the balanced outputs of the Head Unit and fight any kind of
random noise. Get a Technic Harness to avoid any kind of wire cutting
and make things easy(The p&p factor). It is a lot of power for the stock speakers
but people have not been reporting fryed speakers so far. Door speaker
gain setting must be kept to a minimum.
With just the amp you will get better base and cleaner highs .
The front door and speaker s should be changed the favored speakers
are Morel's for the doors and Jehnert for the floors for maximum fidelity.
There are cheaper speaker that will still improve things quite a bit like
Rainbows for the doors and SWS-8's for the floors.

Thanks matey - Great Info!

Is there a supplier around that everyone favours or is it a case of hunting them down myself?

Sorry to be a pain!

Thanks

I can't tell if you are in England you may have other sources

There are some English modders on the audio board such a Mob 17
that have done upgrades recently .
In the states you can buy kits from MusicarNW(best P&P no hassel systems) which contain the amp, speakers harnesses the amps are preset for whatever components you get with the system plus all speaker adapters and factory connectors needed,
The amp can be had almost anywhere. You need to get in touch with Technic
on the Audio Sub Forum to get his Harness.

The amp can also be found on most audio interface sides and ebay.

What is your location and country.

I am from the North East of Yorkshire ctuna!

Thank you for the Sound Advice, Excuse the pun - I have already Contacted Musicar, I'm now waiting for their reply. The JL Audio amp with Technic Harness will be the first thing I to be changed.

Thank you again mate!

A MusicarNw Kit will include the Harness and everything

A MusicarNw Kit will include the Harness and everything you need. If you have Hi Fi he uses the XD600/6 in Level 1 and Level 2 upgrades. And the technic harness in his Hi Fi upgrades.

I am in in the same boat, had a 2006 330i with logic 7 and my 2009 335 i just bought only has the professional, option 676. It's painful to say the least. I need to upgrade soon.

Just spoke to Musicar, their first stage package is equivalent to around £894, this is a bit more than I want to spend initially, I am going to source the JL Amp and Technic harness myself, fit that and work from there. The next stage will be door speakers, then tweeter and then the Central Speakers.

Carl!!
