Scalbert, I have a few more .xml files good for some other stuff if you want them on your site. I wonder if I can attach them on here? Guess I can as a .zip.

It's a must have in my eyes. Great tool.

I like the latest release notes:

May 12th, 2009
Release 1.6.5.0 is now available with the following changes:

New Features

* More optimization to K-line protocols resulting in faster communications
* New Programming Features(only available to our programming beta testers)
o Read and write UIF on most modules
o Read and write custom memory areas, allowing proramming of data area or program area
o Improved write performance, MSD80-MSD81 write times are under 25 minutes for both Program area and Data Area. MED17.2 Data area only in under 3 minutes

It's only time now. Sweeeeet!

The only problem with purchasing it off of ebay is if you do have a problem with the cable your SOL. Buy it from one of our vendors here on the forums or from BavTech directly.

There are only two files right now but feel free to use and perform the FATS tests where appropriate. Soon, I'll make utilities to where you can upload your file and get output that define the information in a common format.

But ultimately I want to see others using this:

http://www.hopesystemsinc.com/bmw_fats.asp

I find it strange that only a few have tried it and posted. It takes launching and shifting out of the equation leaving it solely to the cars ability provided the driver is honest. It is just another metric but one which was used by the B5 S4 gyuys for many years. It is so simple to do yet no one is doing it.
scalbert,
is there an updated format?
how do you do the FATS test?

Updated, how so?

I need to make a selection so that if you use the PROcede for logging, you can choose that method as the time formats are different.

It is ready for use with teh BT software:

http://www.hopesystemsinc.com/bmw_fats.asp

http://www.hopesystemsinc.com/BavTec.../BasicTest.xml

Instructions:
  • Have the Bavarian Technic software hooked up and connected to the vehicle.
  • Select the appropriate log file and set the sampling at the highest rate.
  • Find a flat stretch of road with enough room to perform test
  • Start in 3rd Gear below 3000 RPM and go WOT
  • Continue the WOT run until past 6500 RPM
  • Export the data to Excel
  • Open the file
  • Find the log entries for just before 3500 and just after 3500 RPM and enter the values below
  • Do the same but for 6500 RPM and click submit

The only item you need is RPM and also setting the logging rate to the fastest.

RPM is the only logged item needed for the FATS test. The others are just for basic diagnostics if required.

Windows or VM session is required. It is tightly integrated into Windows Framework.
