I thought I should post how the drive home went. My car is a 2006 E90 (I purchased July 05). As barebones as you can get, non sport package, automatic. This is not my first time adding mods to a car (V-6 Accord with OBX Headers, Comptech Icebox and Exhaust, Eibach Springs, and E36 325 with M3 exhaust, Conforti Chip, Bilstein shocks, K&N drop-in). Anyhow, driving the car home allowed me a few opportunities to take it above 6000 rpm to see what was there. To add my experience to the mixed reviews I say this. YES, THERE IS POWER FROM SIMPLY ADDING AN INTAKE TO AN AUTOMATIC 325i. The car pulls harder from 4K to redline, whereas before, it ran out of breath. I won't say this or that horsepower, because I have no idea, but having driven the car for 4 years, I know my car has changed at higher RPM's.

HOWEVER - There seems to be a sensation of the car getting too much air for the exhaust to handle. When I climbed into the higher bands, there was a somewhat "pulsing" sensation. I am heading to Tischer BMW tomorrow to purchase the exhaust, and to Autothority for the ECU reflash. The reflash is 495, and once those two items are done, I will report the final feelings. Autothority offers three free dyno pulls for customers who have their reflash done with them. Sorry if this was long, but much props to White E-92. His car is awesome in person, and he truly didn't have to do this for me. The man knows his stuff, and if anyone happens to be in the District, Md, or Northern Va region needs anything, you should PM him. He is a serious dude, and not about a bunch of BS. I plan to use him for my spring installation, but thats once the other stuff is done.

Happy motoring.

This intake has a huge cone as im sure you noticed. It's also loud as hell!
It's getting a whole lot more air for sure but this may cause you to get a SES Light. If you run the code it will tell you it's running too rich. With this intake, sometimes on start up it will stutter.
Once you get a custom ECU Flash this thing will work great! Especially with an exhaust.
I had on of these on my 2006 325 E90 and my 2006 330 E90 and didn't throw any codes or SES Lights. . . Got one for my girlfriends 2007 328 E90 and it cause the SES Light. My friend picked up one for his 2007 328 E92 and it also cause the SES light. . .
With an ECU flash you should no problems.
Hope to hear a review.

BMW Performance Exhaust put on today. Car is quicker. Still has slight feeling of jerkiness from 3-4K rpm, then smooths out. Anyone have any ideas?

Autothority reflash and Black ASA AR1's both done today.. :>))

2006 325i Jet Black Auto.
AFE intake
BMW Performance Exhaust
Autothority ECU Reflash
ASA's AR1 (Black)

Car still has very slight jerkiness at 2,000 rpm, but ECU reflash erased most of it due to the lower range TQ increase. Has this happened to anyone else? Bottom line, My 325i has new life and is more enjoyable to drive.

Received email from Doug at Turner Motor Sports.

"Check the seal around the HFM, make sure there are no vacuum leaks. This is all it could possibly be".

Took entire unit off and started from Scratch. Car is still surging. There is a rubber gasket where the AFE intake meets the manifold. I put the intake hose on top of that, and used a ratchet to tighten. I wonder if I should have removed that rubber gasket? If not, would disconnecting the battery overnight help the ECU adapt?

i mean if u removed it and reinstalled it... and double checked everything... i dont know then ahah maybe its just the intake itself...or you're just not used to it or something..

UPDATE - Purchased can of CRC MAF Cleaner. Used it yesterday. Drove car to work. BIG DIFFERENCE. There is still the slightest hint of surging, but for the most part, the acceleration is smoother and car is more resonsive without using the DS.
