What fuel?!

I've found over the years different cars run better with different fuels?

What have you found works best for a petrol 335?!

I only use V power as it seems to be the best fuel the UK has for turbo'd car. Had to fill up once with standard fuel and the power loss was instantly noticeable. Seemed to get less MPG as well but not sure it was all down to low octane fuel.

V power or bp fuel.
For me Bp always worked better in terms of mpg but v power is better for acceleration.
Honest john has mentioned on many bmw reviews that these cars are require premium fuels.

V power seems best for the 335i.

Tesco Momentum is fine too, but I don't think BP Ultimate is quite right.

The 335i does like premium fuels.

I allways use V-Power. Apart from this weekend when I drove all round Essex to find every Shell garage sold out and had to get Momentum. Bit of a waste of the V-Power I had left really.

Shell seem to be the most competitive on price at the moment in london!
Yesterday the only garage with standard fuel for 139.9

I usually go with Tesco Momentum for the clubcard points though!
Eases the paid of paying 146 or whatever it is now.

I was planning on using V Power but there isn't many Shells locally to me and often have to drive out of my way to get it. However, I have a feeling it will be worth it....

Failing that I'll give Momentum a go! Thanks

I've had no problems and I think Momentum is pretty good for the 335i. As said the clubcard points are a bonus but I would still go out of my way to get V-Power and also use the drivers club card!

The Subaru ran like a dog on BP, and only ran smooth on Shell.
The 335i runs okay on cheap Shell, but better output and I calculated 8% more mpg on VPower.
So, the extra cost of premium is negated - in effect you get a free performace upgrade.

Evolve tuning did some back to back dyno runs on a standard 335i with normal ron95 and v power. The v power produced 40bhp more! Perhaps momentum too, but it wasn't around then.

I've honestly never taken much notice of 'premium' fuels thinking they were just an expensive rip off. Might try a tank of shell or bp and see how I go.

Interesting, really makes it a no brainer in that case!

I've always used VPower - I was panicking a bit when it ran out within an hour's radius of me during the recent panic buying but the cheap stuff was in stock so looked into BP and Tesco more.

I found quite a few bad stories about BP Ultimate which surprised me, I was always under the impression it was good but experiences and test results suggest otherwise so for me it's VPower all the way and if I ever need to, plan any route via a Tesco 99

I've found that with my 335i and Jb4, Tesco momentum is the best out of all the premium fuels. With V power I normally hit 14/15 psi on auto-tuning map 5, but with momentum99 I get 16/16.5psi. It's certainly a change that can be felt put it that way

I seem to remember reading that Tesco Momentum contains the dreaded ethanol (fuel pump killer, allegedly)? In which case I'll stick with V Power.

Does Tesco Momentum contain ethanol?

Mike.

Don't know if it helps but I used to have a turbo'd RX8 and only ever put V-Power in it. I moved and thought that bP ultimate would be OK and I was wrong. I never tried Momentum (or any standard fuel) but running on anything but V-Power it would knock badly.

At one point I got caught short so put in an octane booster (as allways) and BP Ultimate thinking that this has got to be OK and it got to the point of detonation in every sense of the word I needed a new engine!

Surprisingly I don't get BP fuel anymore.

BP Ultimate and buy V-Power when you can.

I did not believe this when I first got my car a year ago. Thought I would try V Power just to see and yes : more MPG and a smoother ride. Other premium fuels no difference to normal stuff.
