Advice needed on recent incident

Been a while since i been on here but just needed some advice from you guys

Basically i was staying at a hotel with the Mrs in Central London the other day and i gave my car in to the valet parking people. I checked out the next day and when i got to the car i found my front and rear passenger side wheels had been kerbed to death! (pictures below)

I instantly bought it up with the door man who bought the car from the car park and he said he's driven the car carefully etc but i could tell the wheels had just been kerbed due to the powder from the alloys being on the tyres and on the wheels.

I took this up with the manager and he said he needs to do an investigation into and will be in contact with me. He asked me what i would like them to do about it and i said i will need new wheels, reason being as my wheels are matte black to get them refurbed with the same finish is going to be a hassle.

He contacted me the next day after i sent him an e-mail and he said this will be an insurance claim from their side so i need to give them the original invoice.

My problem is now is that I have called around in regards to the wheels and no one is willing to supply me 2 wheels by themselves. They are only doing them in a set of four. I explained this to the manager however he is saying that the insurance will only pay for the damaged wheels which will essentially leave me out of pocket.

Im unsure of what action to take from here so any advice will be much appreciated.

Why is it a hassle to get them refurbished? Most places can do matte black, it's easier to colour match than silver and most places will do a 1 day service.

If they give you the cost of two wheels (from your original invoice) that should more than cover the cost of getting all 4 refurbed insuring you get them all to match. (should be in pocket as well )

Have you tried Breyton direct?

Wolfrace, Breyton UK importer are offering wheels priced sepatarely, can't see why you can't buy just two?

Agreed. I looked into Lepsons (before learning to live with the minimal damage!) and by all accounts can do an excellent job.

I was unaware you can get a good matt black refurb. I guess that will be the best option! Cheers

Will only supply four new ones? Idiots - are they difficult to match then? Hope one never needs replacing again in the future. Clearly not the wheel to own...

By four new ones, sell yours on eBay?

if wasn't your fault - not your problem that they can only be bought in pairs

you expect YOUR car to be "as was" - and if that means them stumping up for four then so be it................. and stick to your guns

THEIR negligence caused this - not YOURS! Pay up!

you WANT your wheels - as they were - NOT refurbed

I would buy a set of four.

Then you can keep the other two for when you go to stay there again.

how annoying. have a nice hotel break with the missus and the second you leave get switched into anger by these idiots failing to do their job

if they don't pay just stand in the lobby telling people to not to use their hotel over and over again till they do

When you put it like that, fair point.

I'm not one for the whole claim thing but I think that would be my view too. The whole point is the OP should have to put up with the least inconvenience and certainly shouldn't have to accept a refurb. If the like for like replacements are only available in sets of four then so be it. The hotel and their insurers are trying it on. It may even be a good idea for the OP to contact his own insurers if they are being difficult.
