Gaskets at turbo to downpipe reusable?
What's up fellas, finally going to install my iCarbon ceramic coated DP's after having them sitting around for a little over a year lol and i was wondering if the gaskets at the turbo to the downpipe are reusable or should i buy new ones for the install? Thanks in advance!

I just did turbos, I replaced the turbo to DP gasket with a new OE gasket. The gaskets that connect the downpipe to the exhaust are a must though.

Unless its worn away, I wouldn't worry about it. I've done and redone by DPs about 4 times, and by then it was beginning to show signs of wear, after flaking so much. I'll probably replace that packing when I do them again.

Do those turbo to DP gaskets usually stick to the turbo? I just did DP's and I don't remember seeing those gaskets. I'm assuming they stayed on the turbos without me realizing it.

If they are sticking to the DPs I would probably replacement. Otherwise just leave them in and you can reuse them. I had my DPs on/off several times, no problems.

Only ones I would trust to re-use are your AR Bomb-proof gaskets.....OP pick some up to replace #6.

Reuse if they did not split in half when the DPs were removed. I had a set of gaskets ready when the my AR downpipes were installed. The original gaskets were fine, but I still insisted on replacing them. Cheap insurance against exhaust leaks.

Will the turbo side leak if the gasket is not there?

Until this thread, I didn't even realize there was such thing as a gasket for a v-band flange! I've installed numerous turbo's, exhausts and headers and 100% of them didn't have a gasket at the flanges.

I've done DP installation over 10 times and have never had the gaskets come out of the groove in the turbo housing. I would not replace those unless they are cracked or flaking away. |
