Does anyone know the aspect ratio of the 09 screen? Even widescreen movies do not fill the whole screen and there is no way to zoom in on the picture (or is there?)

Yes there is, when playing DVD, you can acces the option menu where you can select "Zoom".

It may still be widescreen (16:9) but just doesn't fill the entire screen (black borders). I think on mine it does. There may be some settings you have to muck around with.
