Well there were skid marks on sodden grass for about 30 yards, so I doubt that she was going 30mph but she was pretty adamant that she was. Also the curb was angled away from the road so hopefully it would have lessened the impact.

From the sounds of things I should take it a garage to get checked out, thanks for the advice all!

Overall the car seems fine, the only problem is that now one headlight (passenger side) is now pointing almost directly out rather than dipped. Also the headlight angle wheel still works but there isn't as much movement in the passenger side as the driver side.

The headlight assembly itself looks to be slightly more forward than the otherside. Basically what I'm after is any guidance on how I may go about fixing this or whether I should just take it straight to BMW.

It's an 06 3 series e90.

i'd use it as my excuse to buy new rims. I'll bet if you act all nonchalant about it, she'll actually fear driving your car anymore.

Its like that whole "dissapointed parent" thing that affects teens / guilts them into doing the right thing.

Right about now I'm glad the gf doesn't like driving my car. Too used to driving big boat-like cars so she doesn't like how responsive everything on the bmws are.

You should get your wheel alignment checked. If it's been a year or more it's due anyway. And re-balance or repair/replace those wheels, and re-aim the headlight. If everything works properly and the car drives as before, I wouldn't care about anything beyond that. Any cosmetic issues, I'd not be worried about.. Years ago I'd have been livid if this happened to me but not anymore. It's a goddam nice care, but it's only a car in the end..

Angry

Dude, that blows. I understand though. A week after I bought my E39 540, my wife drove the car up on a large concrete curb and destroyed the front bumper. I was freakin furious!!!

Never again!

If you lend the wife your car, she crashs it. If you dont lend her the car, she will say your car means more to you than she does. Either way, you are not going to win, so just bend over and take it like a man.

And if you do lend her the car, she crashes it and you're mad about it, she'll point out that you were never that emotional about her ever. So it's definitely a lose-lose-lose. I agree with this - bend over and take it like a man..

Seriously, if my wife gets me as excited as my cars do, I would get more emotional about her

At the very least, your tracking will definitely be off.

Not to try and scare you but hitting a curb, depending on the angle and speed, can do more damage than you think. It's not always the faster you hit it the worse it is, sometimes hitting it at a slower speed can do more damage.

Hopefully you're fine and all you'll need is a realignment.
