The $79 Alibaba kits are not the same brand as the Amazon CYHY kit I got! The Alibaba kits do not ship with the plug and play harness.

I could've went the Alibaba route but I didn't trust it and above all else I wanted a kit that was plug and play

I asked about the SD card. My kit never came with the 16GB card in the box as promised but I have tons of larger SD cards around my house.

The Seller said the max we can use is 32GB memory (?) and that the recordings are looped when the card fills up. So if nothing happens it loops and over-writes itself.

I think most dash cam kits do it that way.

As for the Mobile App situation:
I've been trying to figure it out all morning because the manual that instructs how to do that is ALL IN CHINESE. My co-worker who is from China has been trying to make heads and tails of it. Even for him the wording is very confusing.

From what we gather this CYHY kit is a WiFi kit and that is how it connects to your mobile phone. I believe once you connect over the wifi then it will install the necessary app (?)

Because I don't have my car at work with me and it isn't installed and powered yet my co-worker can't really help me any further than he already has.

We will figure it out and get it installed. No worries!

It REPLACES your E90 E91 E92 E93 E9x mirror housing-shell so that everything mounts inside the mirror/rain sensor housing. See pics below and it should make sense:

Did this item ship from China? Can you speak to the fit and finish of the actual housing? I'm not willing to order and install plastic parts if they're a notch below the OEM pieces.

Did you see my unboxing video?

I can vouch for it. Fit and finish is very OEM! People that know me and my mods know I'm stringent when it comes to OEM only retrofits! I never stray...but this is definitely worth the price.

delmarco delivers again. I miss you from our old e46 days.
I have been researching dash cams and this seems to be a good plug and play solution. But I need a dashcam that works when the car is parked as well(triggers with motion and vibration). I have been hit way too many times in the parking lots.

I think I will have to check with the seller if they can provide just the harness plus the casing and make a hybrid of this and mobius dash cam(thread some where) with power magic pro (to turn it off when the battery reaches 12.2v). I am not a fan of splicing wires.
I want to see the end results of installation. Looking forward to your next video delmarco.

looks nice, but I'm still not sure what these things are for, they're not going to keep your car from getting damaged/stolen and they're not going to chase down anyone for you. plus, I have to ask, would a dash vid even be acceptable in court considering you're not telling the person they're being video taped? which is think is the law in most situations.

If you can afford it, 64GB size improves durability. For example, Transcend states their 32GB Endurance card lasts 6,000 hours of 1080P video recording before expiring. The 64GB card doubles this figure to 12,000 hours.

Professional drivers may want to use the larger 128 GB to 256 GB cards to answer any complaints about their driving. These cards are significantly more expensive per gigabyte and aren’t worth it for the average driver.

Dash camera's are for recording accidents and as a result prevents insurance fraud.

They are acceptable in court or by insurance companies as evidence to support you in the event that the accident appears to someone who didn't see it as a 50/50 fault split.
Also dash cams help you if there is a case of your word against the idiot who ran the light word!

This first accident here tho...

Dash Cameras are not supposed to be vehicle theft deterrent devices.

I'm not sure why people think that. Security Cameras outside the car are better theft deterrent devices and great for capturing hit and runs while parked on the street.

I did have a look at the video but haven't had a chance to watch it with sound yet (can't do that at work). Thanks for the response though, glad to hear it retains a clean OEM appearance.

I'm very interested in this, I'd love to see some videos from the actual camera that YOU post however! Get some up when you have the chance! Great product to have in the E9X!

Work with E92

Is there any reason this wouldn't work on an E92 coupe? I only see the E90/E91 listed in the description.

Thanks,

Alan

We need an English install guide / video, and for someone to try a bigger SD card for storage, 16GB at 1080p will bot be enough in my opinion, 32GB even is too small.

Also is the iPhone and Android app available in english?
