i wanted ot be a moderator, but seeing as i pm'd a few admins and no one ever got back to me,i stopped caring what i post

It's hard to ignore when you want to read a thread which interests you and the only new posts are those off topic ones. There are only about 10 prolific posters in the Aussie section so it's easy to get chummy with each other and forget which thread you're posting in. A bit of discipline from all of us would make the aussie section even better and stop us wasting our time reading useless posts.

Just because they ignored you doesn't mean you can't take on some responsibility and try to keep the aussie section friendly (which you already do very well), and on topic. I suspect that the admins are busy enough as it is and may not want to allow anyone admin rights because of the potential politics of choosing the best/ most appropriate moderators for each section (just more work for them). Our section is not big and is fairly easy to keep a handle on even without admin rights. I'll back you up if you try to keep people on the straight and narrow.
