Hi guys, installed a set of VRSF DPs yesterday and today the aFe stage 2 pro 5R intake came on. When driving home from the shop a CEL came on for the first time since I got the car. Plugged in my COBB AP and read the codes:
P29F5, catalyst conversion 2
P29F4, catalytic conversion

Cleared the codes but I have no idea if everything is alright, so could you please give me some input?

And yes, I'm a newbie to the tuning game.

thx,
OB

Do I really need the DP fix after clearing the code with COBB AP?

I was under the impression that as long as you use one of the cobb maps specifically designed for downpipes, codes shouldn't trip. Did you get trip the codes before loading a dp map?

I don't mean to thread jack, but I was running Cobb stage 1 before I had the VRSF DP installed. After they were installed, I didn't get any codes and they still didn't show after driving for a few miles. I installed stage 2 to be on the safe side. Not to complain, but anyone experience no code also when installing DP? Just wondering why some ppl got the codes and I didn't. I don't have the DP fix btw

The install is proper, I think. Running stage 1 but don't see why it should matter if it's st. 1 or 2.

If it's just standard codes due to the cat removal, then I'm happy.

Alright, sounds good. Waiting For my IC before switching to st.2, but maybe I'm ok since it's -10 degrees celsius over here..?

You should probably take a look at the map notes on cobb's site.

Stage 2 requires dp's, recommends catback exhaust, and recommends dci.

Stage 2+ requires dp's, requires intercooler, requires dci, and recommends catback exhaust.

Not to thread jack but my vrsf dps will be going on soon and I have a jb4. Will I need the dp fix or will the jb4 take care of my codes and they won't pop up

As I understand it, the JB4 will take care of the check engine light but you'd still need dp fix to show readiness for purposes of an OBDII emissions inspection (if required by your jurisdiction).

Cheers. Took a look at the site and just like you said, st.2 is fine with my mods. So I'm switching to st.2 today :thump:

Thought that it was possible to run any map and still have no CEL related to the DPs. When it's time for inspection, then I'll have to run a st.2 map or get a DP fix, is that correct?

Standard codes. I just installed DPs about a month ago and got these codes. I then updated my tune file (running ESS) to the cat-less files and they never came back.

Once you get the tune squared away, you'll be fine. Nothing is really wrong right now

I'm not exactly sure about inspections. I think it depends on the type of testing done. If they do a sniffer test, I've read here that it is unlikely you will pass with the dp's on.
