BMW Hard Wax with Nanotechnology - my quick review

**UPDATED WITH PICS**

I was at the dealer on Saturday getting winter tires put on my car and picked up a bottle of the BMW Hard Wax with Nanotechnology... I thought I would give it a try. It wasnt cheap, around $35 CDN for a bottle.

When I got home and finished cleaning up and applying Poorboys Wheel Sealant to my summer wheels before I stored them, I washed my car, pulled it in the garage and started the process....

I didnt realize that the texture of the wax was like water. I basically squirted some on a microfiber towel and wiped it on the car. Although I turned the cloth frequently, you basically have to have the cloth dampened with the wax and you simply wipe it on. It goes on easier than anything I have ever used. It dries to a haze pretty quick too. I did three panels at a time since the surface was cool and I was parked in my garage out of the sun.

The wax buffs off quite easily but appears to leave a very very slight 'greasy' film which requires a once over final buff with a seperate clean microfiber towel. When you buff the last step to get tid of that film, the finish looks great!

The surface doesnt have the same slipery feel as if I used a liquid or hard Carnuba wax, but it is smooth and silky to the touth.

I dripped some water on the hood and the water beaded like crazy... No water remained as it rolled off and left no trail behind. Good start.

I didnt drive the car Saturday after I waxed it so when I went to nurse a slight handover Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and a cigarette out back through the garage, I ended up starting the wax process over again and gave it a second coat... applied, waited for the haze, buffed with one cloth, did a final buff with a second cloth. Hangover went away and car looks slick For the record, my car is Sapphire Black. The car has about 2500 miles on it, is 2 months old, has been waxed once with Mother's Carnuba Wax and the paint is still flawless.

Anyhow... No rain in the focecast until tonight and Wednesday but I am anxious to see how it holds up and handles the elements.

As a side note, it says it can be applied to wheels as well, but I also used the Poorboys Wheel Sealant on my 17'' 159's I bought for winter. Love that product so far. Anxious to see how well it works repelling brake dust and the winter elements.

Updated with pics... taken with my Blackberry at work in the parking lot so not the best

Nice review! Would love to see some pictures too.

I believe that particular "BMW" wax is actually repackaged Sonax Super Liquid Wax. If you like it, you could probably save a few bucks buying the Sonax product.

Just got back in from running some errands and it started to pour... Best bead action from a wax job I have ever seen !! Hope it holds up well.

Very nice LCI! Lookin' great.

If you're looking for maximum durability, you might want to try a sealant before the winter. Many of them will last you through the cold months without needing to be reapplied.

Yeah my thoughts exactly.

Quick update though... when I went out to the car this morning the water had beaded off nicely and the car looked quite clean for having been driven in the rain last night.

So far so good.... I will update the thread after a few weeks of washings and wet weather.
