Latex and Inflator System vs. RFT's or Spare
I am looking to replace the 17" er's on my 328i E92 with either 18" or 19" wheels. While I think I prefer 18's for ride and reliability reasons...as these will be summer only wheels I am tempted by 19's. Tires seem to be a big cost issue for 19's particularly if you go RFT due to the near monopoly market situation - and from what I read they also suck for all that money. I am concerned about going conventional due to the lack of spare. I have had a flat with my Conti RFT's and it worked out really well for me - not withstanding they are marginal performance tires.
What has your experience been using any of the emergency inflator and latex products out there? I do a lot of late night middle of no where driving and being stuck with out a reliable flat repair capability (and I seem to get one every 18 months) really makes me want to go back to 18's with Michelin RFT's. Thoughts? |

i purchased a mobile air compresor and two cans of fixflat for my car when i ditched the runflats.
only got one flat, filled it up with fixflat to plug the hole and drove straight to the tire repair shop. i do a lot of middle of no where driving and i feel comfortable with the compressor and fixflat.

I'm not a fan of any of the mobility kits. What happens when you cut the sidewall? You're stuck, thats why I got the BavAuto spare kit. Tisher sells one as well. It takes some trunk space away, but there's plenty left. I'll rather be safe than sorry. Just my .02
Here's a picture of my set up:

Pete,
that setup looks great i've been thinking of doing that myself. I just don't know if i'm ready to part with so much trunkspace yet. (i use my trunk to full capacity regularly)
