Pump on the way out?

Was scanning for codes today for something unrelated and saw I had this one: 377A.
From a quick search it seems to be: coolant pump shutdown: pump blocked.
one thing after another...

However, it doesn't seem to be the common code people get before or with a pump failure. Could there be another reason? Had no other symptoms (e.g.. overheating, pump noises, oil temperature higher than usual)

If you do think I should go ahead and replace pump and tstat, how difficult is the diy with the front on rhino ramps? Looks quite tight /tricky even with the car on a lift. Anyone done it on ramps?

Final question: there seem to be cheaper non oem pumps and tstats. Are they inferior or worth the savings?

Thanks
