Front seat squeaking driving me mad!
My drivers sports seat is squeaking bad over every bump in the road. I've searched the forums and siliconed the suggested places but it doesn't help. When I raise or lower the seat the squeak stops for about a minute.
Does anyone have any other suggestions. I'm ready to pull the seat out and grease all the contact points. It sounds like is a spring or coil underneith the seat leather. Are there any precautions to look for when I remove the seat, airbag, seat belt ballistics, ect. Any special procedures to remove the seat besides unbolting from the floor rails and disconnecting the electrical Leeds? Thanks for any help.

My squeak was actually the rubber around the seatbelt fastener rubbing against the leather seat. Fixed it by putting 3m Velcro tape around the rubber on fastener. Just try grabbing the fastener when you hear it next and see if it stops.

I have the felt on the side of the seat belt fasteners, doesn't help. Are you referring to the thick wire part below the fasteners?

Squeaky e92 leather seat...
I too have this problem, and it's definitely NOT leather, it is coming from the internals on the right hand side, if I literally spray it til it's dropping wet with WD40 or similar, it goes away for about 30mins!!! It's something to do with the mechanisms.
I would love to be able to get into the damn thing and literally cover it all with a proper grease to fix it for good, rather than the often smelly and short lived results I get from using WD40. I might add that it only seems to creak when setting off from standing starts etc, and if I lean forward to take pressure off the back rest then it doesn't squeak at all! Anyone else with similar symptoms? On my 2nd BMW now, and it'll soon be my last given the quality of the thing. My mother in laws Peugeot is smoother, quieter, and feels more solid than my 2007 E92 320d, and I'm not even joking! |

It does sound like the mechanism or a spring underneath and not the leather making the noise. I stuffed a rag between the seat belt stalk and the seat and nothing changed. I found the BT tool question it appears I can reset the light with it.

I fixed the squeak on the seat!
Took out the 4 mounting bolts and tilted the seat back to get underneath. I applied a thin film of white lithium grease on all the mechanical pivot points and adjusting mechanisms I could see. I then sprayed silicone lube with the extension tube on the back attachment points where the seat springs attach to the lower seat frame. I think this was the cause of the squeaking. took about 30mins total. Now theres not a peep from the seat!
