it's more important to compare your before and after runs on the SAME dyno, as even dynos of the same brand can show variations. So while your dyno may be accurate from run to run, you still can not compare it to any other dyno unless you test them with the same car in the same conditions to see what the differential is.
Very true.

As I have the N51 engine and 3 stage intake manifold - what do I have to do to raise my power to some 250-260hp levels? Tune at AA? What gains will BMW Powerbox yield?

How many miles have you on the car ? And how many since the 3 stage ?

Have you gone back to AA to get their latest 3 stage intake custom software ?

I was about to ask if they finished there software up.....

What have you heard about it? Any links you can provide?

Also so you would need to buy the Simon tool, AND the tune itself separately correct?

I'm gonna hit 200,000mi tonight! Not sure how much on the tune and manifold but it's a lot. As for the lates tune, the custome tune, I believe that's only for the 328. But I'm pretty sure I have the latest version.

Although AA developed the custom tune (328) in house I am sure it would be the same for 325

Not exactly. Things aren't exactly "copy and paste" with engine tunes even across the same ECU. The 328 does not share the same ECU as the 325 either. You'd have to ask them if they could take what they did for the 328 and apply it to the '25.

Maybe someone pointed this out allready?

The dyno chart states:

Radleistung (rwhp): 158,5kW (215,5hp)
Verlustleistung (drivetrain losses): 24,6kW (33,4hp)
Normleistung (flywheel hp): 183,1kW (249hp)

Normleistung (flywheel hp) is 158,5 + 24,6 = 183,1kW or 249hp.

From other dynos of stock 330i a rwhp figure of 215hp seems to be about right, or even in the higher end of the scale for a stock car. You definitely have 330i performance in you engine. Just wanted to clear up the dyno chart numbers though

N52 to 330 conversion

First off just wanted to introduce my self, im new to the e90 world. Just picked up a 2006 325xi (titanium silver). I have the n52b30 motor in it so basically that is a 'de-tuned' 330 is that correct?
I am definitely interested in doing the 330 conversion and wanted to make sure I have a correct understanding and list of parts. A good friend of mine is a certified BMW tech so the labor will be easy .
so basically I need the 3 stage intake manifild, the two actuators, a better exhaust and a ECU re-flash/re-tune??I am looking to do this in the next year and wanted to just get a basic list of parts so i can start sourcing and buying

Thanks

The parts list on page is all of the parts you need if you're ordering new parts. If you find a used intake manifold it usually has all the screws and valves. You still need the gasket set, vent hose, and tune. I'm not sure where people are getting used manifolds though. You can get new parts from www.getbmwparts.com. They actually have a "kit" that gets you all you need minus the tune. I recommend Active Autowerke for the tune.

Ok sounds good. Do i just pull out my ECU and send it in? Also what about intake and exhaust? Should I just go with a drop in K&N or look into changing out the entire airbox? Is the 325xi exhaust very restricting? The first thing I noticed when I drove this car was how quiet it was, im not a fan of loud cars but I miss the sound of the older 6's (e30, e36, etc). Either way I want to get the most bang for my buck and compliment the 330 conversion as much as possible with out having a loud cabin drone but rather a nice throaty sound.

You can pull out your ECU and send it in or go to a distributer if there's one close to you which is the best option. You can also go with the Simon tool which allows you to load the tune yourself without removing the ECU, but it's a bit pricy.

The intake isn't too restrictive. You can do a K&N drop in and remove the charcoal filter but I have yet to see anything scientific about any gains. Some will say get scoops but I'm not a fan. They scoop everything including rocks, dirt and leaves. The 330 has the same intake as the 325. The exhaust is also subjective. Whichever sounds the best to you.

I installed these in the following order:

PE, 3 stage IM, Performance Intake and then did AA tune (via Simon Tool).
There is a large difference between a stock car, and the final product.

There are still "flat" spots as I would call them throughout the rev band, but significantly better than without the tune.

I checked the AA website and it looks like $400 for the tune and they send you the simon tool. This seems a little cheap to me..maybe I was looking in the wrong spot. I thought I heard the tune was around $900. Just trying to figure out what to budget for.
Also I dont wanna change the topic of the thread but I cant figure out what to do for an air intake (just drop in a K&N??..seems like the stock airbox set up is pretty good). I dont see how an open air filter in the engine bay is going to be any better (might actually be worse). Any suggestions?..maybe a pressurized ram air set up?..

Sorry I didnt see your second paragraph (e90pilot) about the filter. Yeah I think I will just do a drop in K&N, then a muffler delete with chrome tips (done well so I can always throw the muffler back on). Then the 3 stage manifold, then the tune. Then it will be H&R's, strut brace, and new suspension bushing! ...this list goes on, lol

AFE has released a closed air box intake. It seems to be getting good reviews. I have the BMW Performance Intake. It's good but not $700 good and it's really only louder outside the car. Inside, it's noticeable after about 6000rpm. If you can find a used one (check the forum marketplace) it's worth it, but I wouldn't pay more than $400 if I had to do it again. Gruppe M made an awesome intake but it was STUPID money. There are replicas available for a much less clutch-your-heart price.

As for the tune, it's $400 I'm guessing for just the tune and the Simon Tool is separate.

Ok, Im doing a muffler delete (and adding chrome tips) this afternoon. Ordered a K&N for the local shop. I was looking at the car last night (after I replace a dead ignition coil >_< ) and it really doesnt seem that difficult to just modify the air inlets to a 'scoop' style and then just pressurize the chamber. I dont know if ill really mess with that. I think for now, just the K&N and muffler delete will at least sound ALOT better. then Ill start sourcing parts for the 3-stage mani (probably just the kit you mentioned). Will there be an issue if I swap the mani and wait to get the tune for more $? Or should I just wait and do both at the same time?
What im thinking is to just get the manifold when I get paid again (I only get paid once a month) , install it, then wait another month or two and get the tune. Or will the manifold be worthless with out the tune?

I may try and get a before and after Dyno pull for a nice write up for the forum ... But the shops around here want an arm and a leg. Around $300 for a dyno pull seems a little pricey for me.
