Question Help W/ Statistic Problem...

i got a math test in 5 hours and i can't seem to figure this out. i know it basic but my brain is fried right now. i would ask chelsea but she sleeping and i don wanna wake her for this q .

here is the sample problem below but i don know how to get the answer...

using the z table, find the critical value (or values) for a two tailed test with a= .08

answer= 1.75

and the other questions revolving around this one ask left or right side test. like a= .08 right/left side test; how do i get answer for that?

help much appreciated. thanks guys.

a=0.8(x)/4xy^z^3

2.4a^z=4xy

a=1.75

that is all made up btw

your alpha is .08?

I've never seen a 92% confidence level....

typically its 90, 95, 99% with corresponding alphas at .10, .05, .01. With two-tailed tests, those are all divided by 2 as you want to check rejection regions on both tails of the normal distribution (those values at which you can use to determine whether or not to reject the null hypothesis.) Respectively your alphas would deduce to .05, .025, .005.

Even if you use excels NORMSINV function....
the answer comes out to 1.405072

Another quick way to find Z-critical values:
1-a
a/2 for two tailed test (as I mentioned above)
look up that value in the standard normal table....and find corresponding vertical and horizontal values....presto!

I think they do this as a simple way to change the tests...and make sure that you know how to problem solve...I may be wrong...it has been 20+ years since i solved an actual problem...

Yea that could be...I didn't go too far beyond the prerequisites in statistics and it's been a year and half or so since my last stat class but I remember "regular" alpha values...maybe those are just the question I got right

Possibly, but it does look a bit conspicuous...again never have come across a question asking to test the null hypothesis to within 92% confidence. Doesn't seem kosher.....ya feels me??

i just checked online and class avg was a 42 while i got a 37 . my teacher blows major dick. this is what happens when you try to teach math over the internet and take the easy way out, shit don't work.

the test didn't have anything what we learned like for real. the entire class was like wtf is this shit. i just took the formula and plugged in random #s from the questions.

time for a major curve .

ill still end up with a b or b- at the end of it all. majority is the gay group and individual project bull shit.
