VREDESTEIN Wintrac xtreme versus BRIDGESTONE Blizzak LM25 RFT?

I've been recommended the Bridgestones by someone who uses them regularly in Germany and drives on lots of snow/ice but can' give me an opinion of the Vredesteins.

Anyone have experience of both tyres for a direct comparison for performance as well as how well they wear.

Going to be running these on 225/45/17 on 330D.

Personaly, looking at the Blizzaks they look very 'rugged' and chunky and are not as performance oriented as the Wintracs.

I've only seen great review of the Wintracs, so have bought them.

+1, the Bridgestones seem to be more suited to prolonged, heavy snow use.

The Vred's seem to be more readily available (not sure about price differentials), but I can vouch for their handling capabilities in the weather that we've just experienced.

Just been out in the snow using my Michelin Pilot Alpins (RFT) - was absolutely amazed It was like driving on tarmac, then saw a VW Passat / Bora get stuck on the hill I just drove up at 25mph.
