I retired about 25yrs ago and wound up my business legally. My companies name was a made up one, totally original. I now see a multi- national Co. is using that title. Is this legal? Did I lose all claims to that Co. name when I retired?

To be fair, I would say that unless your company name was a registered trade mark that you have maintained, you have not got a leg to stand on.... Retired it 25 years ago.... Unless you are 90 now, you did good fella, sit back, relax and enjoy....

did you liquidate / dissolve the company when you said "wound it up legally?"

the trigger is not your retirement but dissolution of the company name which made it available for reuse.

some companies make their business from buying up goodwill from recently dissolved companies.

Small Co. No goodwill. I told my accountant I was retiring and left him to deal with any paperwork, tax- insurance etc.
