Quote:
The Audi Quattro concept is on the cusp of production as a new report is indicating the company has built an engineering prototype for executive testing.

According to Autocar, the vehicle will be evaluated by the Board of Management before they render their verdict for production. Despite the formality, sources are reporting that approval is virtually a foregone conclusion.

Essentially a shorter and lighter RS5, the Quattro concept featured a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 408 PS (300 kW / 402 hp) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. It was paired to a six-speed manual transmission which enabled the 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs) coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.

If everything goes according to plan, the Quattro could be launched as early as 2013

It's not possibly heading for production, it is going to be produced.

If this WAS produced, do you think Audi would price this under the GTR? They'd have to methinks

Alas production numbers will mean a price much higher than that.

LOVE the second gen. I have scoured the internet trying to find one in reasonable condition but it seems impossible...

I hope not. Even if it is, I hope the price isn't that outrageous

It's all down to production numbers, if they build 5000 then it would be around GTR money in the UK but if they build the same 300 units of the original then it will be north of £110K in my opinion. Such a price would make it solely for the stupid rich and the collectors.

Love the concept... just hope it doesn't cost a ridiculous amount (which it will).

It'd be really cool if Audi got back to their rally roots with it.

Since this is a business, it's going to be all about the money.
Where does this fit in Audi's price structure? Is this less than an R8 and more than an RS5? What's it competing with? Seems more like the equivalent to what should have been the M1 (as opposed to the compromised 1M).

It would make sense slotting it smack dab in the middle of the RS5 and R8. What they need to do is bump up the base R8's 4.2 with either more displacement or FI. Give it about 480bhp so the Qattro has some breathing room.

I thought R8 V8 was replaced with the V10. V8 still in production?

Dumping random R8 love. TK you'll prob notice how these remind me of a certain "Gem" of a tuner I have an abnormal obsession for. Only things I can't say I agree with are the grille treatment and badging.
