New southern california cop cars! Be on the look out for the dodge charger cops

The crown victorias are being replaced with dodge chargers and magnums haha what a waste of tax payer money what as wrong with those old 70's crown vics huh haha?.....im not a fan of those PIGS nor am i fan of american cars at all but those should look pretty mean haha. I saw one today here in laguna, i didnt get a chance to see the back to see what model it was. I wonder what model they're going to be, i'd hope they'd just be the most basic to save our money but who knows if they're R/T's or SRT8's (i highly doubt their SRT's)

Well, you do know that the "old" crown vics had highly modified engines in them. So I wouldn't be surprised if these were SRTs. But at least these are easier to spot than the current cars...

Actually the crown vic wasn't really highly modified, but it had a more agressive rear end giving it better acceleration and a different exhaust setup, to give it a couple more hps than the standard florida retiree special. Aside from that, they had uprated suspension, electrical system and various uprated cooling upgrades.

Iirc the Charger police car will get the Hemi engine along with the standard police duty upgrades (again suspension, cooling, electrical maybe different gearing).

VA is also getting a few chargers according to the local news...

^ I was under the belief that some highway patrols had corvette engines in them... but then again, I probably heard this from a friend, who heard from another friend, who read it online somewhere, who got it's information from someone he know.....

These new cops cars are V6s but do 0-60 in like 7.5 seconds or so. Last months Motortrend had a write up on them. The title was "Cop Cars are Slow." Or something like that.

But remember, you can't outrun a cops radio

I'm starting to see them now. Even the university police on my campus drive around Magnums.

What to really watch for is that they're talking about installing cameras in canyons now.

Saw one of these heading North on 280 around Hillsborough. It didn't have the lights on the roof--Looked like a black & white flying turd to me.

Sucks that they are patrolling 280 so much these days..

NYPD has base charger SXT for RMP duty. Highway patrol has the 5.7Hemi's good for 140MPH. Watch out sportbikers and leadfoots.
