How many have boost gauge?

How many of you turbo guys have real boost gauges? I'm not talking about the gauge jack via tune.

I'm debating on whether I should get one or not. I'm seen the vent pod gauges, P3 gauge, and ashtray gauges. Anything else?

Current mods are JB4, DCI, Downpipes, & Quaife. Probably going to test out E85 soon.

I just use the JB4 gauge "hi jacking" feature and turn my fuel gauge into a boost gauge after 50% throttle.

Will an OBDII scanner accurately track boost/vac? I'm thinking of getting a kiwi bluetooth and running the torque app on my tablet...

Same here. It's the easiest option, and I like that I don't have some out of place gauge in the interior.

I've had both, even at the same time.

The only benefit to a real boost gauge is that it reads at the intake manifold VS the other ones read pre throttle body.

Assuming your throttle is open, they would both be the same during pulls.

Where they differ is at low boost usually under 4 psi where the throttle blade will make an inherent false boost spiking on gauge hijacking. This is because the throttle blade is not fully open.

The gauge hi jacking would also not be accurate if you are getting throttle closures.

So the question is what is more important? For this vehicle I feel it looks a lot cleaner with the use of gauges from tunes.

If you really want to know what your motor is taking in, use a real boost gauge.

I have the vent boost gauge and really do like it. Its the p3 and its very discrete and doesnt look "out of place"

although real boost gauge is going to be the most accurate, the piggyback gauge hijacking works well enough for most people.

I run an autometer mech gauge on the ATI steering column pod gauge. Cheap and efficient vs the P3 gauge wich is so expensive. I also was looking at different setup but really wanted a mech gauge instead of an electric one.

same here love the vent pod look. P3 is nice but don't like the positioning utilizing the vents to the left of the steering wheel, just seems out of line of sight I feel... if that makes sense haha

Boost gauge is just for show. I prefer the clean OEM look, as opposed to the racer-mentality boost gauge. I feel like a boost gauge in a stock turbo'd 3 series is trying too hard. Diff strokes for diff folks?

P3 vent gauge here. Love it. When I had my evo X, my Cobb was clipped to the same side vent, so I am used to glancing over there.
