Hi all,

You guys take great photographs. With time and practice, I hopefully will be able to contribute as well. That being said, I have a Nikon D7000 with the NIKKOR 18-200mm DX VR II Lens.

I am learning all the fun stuff currently, ISO, aperture, shutter speed, reading the manual, etc... I like taking pictures of my car, nature, animals, and night shots. That being said, is it worth getting any other accessories. I have a bag but was thinking of:
-UV Filter (if nothing else for protection from dust)
-Tripod

Anything else? And I am open for suggestions on brands to buy of each.

Lastly, if anybody is in the Indianapolis, IN area and wants to go shooting at around town and bring along a student, let me know!

A sturdy tripod is a great addition for night and landscape and self timer shots.

There is a vast array of different brands, heads and what not..

A UV filter isnt going to help much but it WILL protect that front glass element from any knocks or bumps and dirt.

I would also suggest a circular polarizer if you start taking more outdoor shots. They can be a great way to change a sky or reflections on the water.

I'm sure some of the more technical folk here could offer some other suggestions, but those two (tripod and circa-pol) were what I started off with!

Great thanks! I will look into those. Do you know of any specific brands? I understand there are many Tri-pod solutions out there, do you have any suggestions? I don't need top of the line, but I do want something that will last. I will do my own research as well to learn about the different type of connectors (pros/cons). I appreciate your help!

I'm personally a giottos fan, but solutions from manfrotto, velbon and others are all good. Then decide whether you want a pan/tilt head or a ball head.

As for circular polarizers, there are many to choose from, most of my filters are kenko's..

I'd be lost without my grip for my 7000 - I also have that same lens on most of the time
