Will check

I updated drivers from
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

I set the COM to 1, I have to check the latency setting.

Also my laptop is windows vista, does that have any impact on the software working correctly?

Thanks for responses.

Thanks for the help guys.

Successfully able to get my VIN# got a copy of the cars current settings using NCS software but no with INPA, INPA will not read the Airbag info.

Is there a way to get the menu of NCS to be in English? Currently its all German. The options inside the application are in English. Would like the Menus in English before i start trying to code. I found a thread somewhere with a .txt file to drop into the NCS Expert folder, which i did, however the Menu is still in German.

Thanks in advance...

Gauge Cluster Coding

New member here - crossing over from my normal e61 wagon forums. I'm wanting to retrofit the M5 gauge cluster into my 535xi and after hours of searching found that in the past a couple coders here in the e90 world have done it, but one has been banned. I contacted Patryk at bimmerretrofit but he's asking $350 and I have to remove the eeprom to send to him to get him to clear it. At that price I can almost buy a new cluster and not have to hack up my current one.

Does anyone know of a coder that can clear a used cluster?

Thanks to all in advance for your help

I replaced my stock halogen headlight on my 2006 325xi (e90) with depo HID projectors with orion v2 AE's. Everything works fine except the driver side High/running daylight bulb will not turn on and it is throwing error. Tested the bulb and it works. Plugged the old headlight into the wiring harness and the high beam/ running daylight works. Got a new connector for it and still cant get it to turn on. The error code is CC-ID 128. Has anyone come across this issue? Please help!

It may but for some of the cheaper cables, XP is best.
I have older INPA and NCSExpert running on a Vista laptop but invested in a cheap eBay cable ($21, cheap eBay Toughbook with O/S only and a great battery. The vendor has 100% and he tested it for me and gave me a report which was very conservative. Laptop $68. So for $89 I have a laptop exclusively for my BMW's. Spent another $15 at Fiver for the latest and greatest software packages that go up to F30.
All those prices include all charges. For $104 I have a working setup. Less than the price of the cables that most sites say to get. In fact, my cable looks identical to the $99 one.
My other car laptop with Vista, also runs VAG for my Audi (used to be Audi's but I got rid of my beloved S4).

Any cable aside from what I have in post #1 is a gamble. I have physically opened more than 10 cables and there are a ton of clones. The chips inside the clones are half the size of the chips in the "original" cable.

Installed Windows XP in a vmware VM on Windows 8.1. Followed all the instructions found here and have a fully functional setup thanks to this thread. Coded out the dreaded OC3 airbag error/warning. NCSexpert isn't so bad if you know a little German. Coding with NCS feels a little like zoning a fabric on a production SAN.

Just a few tips that are probably buried somewhere in this thread. Make sure to install all tools on the root of the C: drive. My Com1 in my XP virtual machine refused to work so I set the USB emulator to Com3 and chose Com 3 during the tools setup.

Good to hear! +1 for using a VM. After spending hours and perfecting your setup the last thing you want is for the hardware to die.

Plus, with a VM you can run this on a tablet for ultimate ease of use in the car versus a clamshell laptop. I use a Microsoft Surface Pro myself and it works like a champ.

You have doubts? "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

Using a two year old K Line Cable from BMCables along with their much maligned "self-installing" 32 bit VmWare software on a Win 10 64 bit laptop must make you think I'm full of s**t? BMW'a built after 3/07 are dead to me and my set up. However, my wife's E90 left the Munich assembly line 2/07.

You just need to recode or reprogram CCC unit to have Audio.
