I think it's specifically "gloss black" that looks cheesy. if you're going with black, do matte, semi-gloss, or satin. gloss black looks cheap because so many cheap wheels out there come in that finish. just my opinion

I don't think they are flashy at all but the car needs to have a certain look to pull it off. You cannot just slap black wheels on a stock car, it needs to have the blackout theme throughout and fairly modded to work well.

+1 - It has to have black accents throughout to blend in (kidneys, tint, etc...). I like black wheels, but I'm not completely sold on the time attack rings yet. Some I like, others not so much. Once my black wheels arrive, next step is vinyl the window trim and roof

I have tinted windows. But i figured the polished lip would go well with the stock accents

Black rims tend to add aggressiveness to a modded car. Some suspension lowering is needed at the minimum IMO. |

agreed with most here. Black wheels on black car is one exception, it can look good if you get the polished lip and leave some silver on the car trim. There just has to be some sort of contrast somewhere.
I like the black with the grey cars, as long as they are light grey. Mine is SGM (sparkling graphite metallic) and black just wouldn't look right IMO because the car is too dark. I am thinking brushed aluminum wheels with polished lip when I get wheels. These are my "dream" for when I win the lottery Also, here is my old car with black rim, silver lip: Like many have said, car has to be lowered and just look aggressive enough to match up with aggressive looking black wheels. Can be hard to pull off at times! |

Ya those look sexy. Sorry maybe I didn't choose the right words or something. I meant to say that I think it depends on the type of wheels you get. Just don't get the ones that look like those steel spare tire rims or else it would look cheap. lol

everyone's got their own opinion on rims/colors and all that bidness. here's my understanding of what's trendy in BMW tuning:
1. go for the most extreme offsets and widest staggered setup you can get away with 2. chrome rims are sacrilege 3. silver is played out 4. black and gunmetal are in but the polished lip is out 5. time attack stripes are getting played out having observed these opinions over and over on this board it's clear that these are themselves trends. they'll change. you can play it safe and go with the trends or you can set them yourself by doing something different. it's your car and your style so just decide what you like and do it. |

Thanks for the help guys I have my rims ordered. I went with black beyern mesh rims... they do have a polished lip but I like the look and in the end it is most important what I like and I dont think people will be to turned off by it.
