I took my car to the dealer for a scheduled oil change and reported this issue. They applied Progman v30 and it didn't make any difference to the "sticky brake" problem. The dealer said they had never heard of this, and during their test drive, could not duplicate the issue. I can duplicate it at will, and it seems ridiculous to have this "feature" on an auto transmission.

I bring mine in tomorrow (But at least the shop foreman admits to experiencing it first hand) I am to be TOTALLY re-programmed. Has it changed anything else for the better/worse ? Thanks, Joseph

I just got my annual service done and they updated the software. Not sure what version, but probably v29 or v30 or so. I noticed after the upgrade, this problem is significantly lessened. It's not completely gone, but it behaves much better. |

My wife's automatic 08 335i has the same issue. I have just learned to deal with it on the occasions when I drive it. She has never complained so I suspect she does not even notice.
My 6-speed 07 335i obviously doesn't exhibit this symptom.

me too
same here, 06 325i auto... brakes are 'sticky' sometimes off a red light they are still engaged for a split second or two. Also when braking sometimes its very sudden - tried to change my driving behavior but it still happens. Like someone else said brakes seem to be either ON or OFF - no in between at slow speeds.
Is there a way to dis-engage the soft stop/start? |

There has been NO CHANGE ! I called BMW NA to complain about this issue and got some passive-aggressive snot nose who asked me what I thought a "reasonable time frame" was for BMW to correct this problem. (As if I had not waited long enough) I said I didn't know but since I have been hearing about it from other owners for MONTHS now, I feel that it has gone on TOO long. I received a call a few days later (which i did not answer) from a Woman at BMW NA informing me that there will be ANOTHER update "sometime" in September. VERY annoying... WHY won't BMW NA just ADMIT that there is an issue ???????

FWIW,
You can have the softstop feature disabled in the software. The Tech has GUI for this. I had it done some time. There is some other much hated features that can be disable like driveline release with an auto in D mode ect. Orb |

Details please! You had the feature turned off by BMW tech? Did you have to go through a series of steps to get their cooperation or simply ask for it to be deactivated? This would really be the ultimate solution.

How long ago did you have this done? I find it hard to believe becuase I've asked twice with two different techs that both told me there was no way of turning it off.

Sticky brake solution
Just had my 'sticky brakes' fixed - The Dealership cleared the Auto gearbox adaptations, reset the DSC sensors, and the Yaw Control sensor and the problem has completely gone. Technician who road tested my car with me before doing the work is convinced the the Yaw control sensor is the most likely culprit - the car didn't know when it was on level ground!

I was assured that these features were disabled by the shop foreman (whom I believe to be an honest, nice guy). Once again NO FU*KING CHANGE !

Update on Sticky brake fix
It's now over 2 weeks and 1200 miles since my 'sticky brake' fix. Number of sticky brake incidents during this time - ZERO - also auto box is smoother, and DSC works better!

any TSB for this yet? I feel like if i go to the my dealer and tell them to
" clear the Auto gearbox adaptations, reset the DSC sensors, and the Yaw Control sensor" they may tell me to take a hike. Lets get this fixed!! BTW, I have a 2006 330i auto tranny. -mike |

I'm also waiting for some word. I called my BMW dealer and they were supposed to check with BMWNA for a TSB or some other guidance. So far, I havent heard back.
