Smile World's 1st Single Turbo AWD N54: Vishnu/FFTEC Single Turbo Content

Hi guys,
I took a brief break for social media for a while to catch up on some new (and soon to be disclosed) projects that we've been working on. This thread is about one of them: our VFF Single Turbo conversion for the 335ix! There will be more threads in the upcoming weeks

Mike from FFTEC will post up some of the development pics of this project soon. But for now, I'll just provide a some basic info and a short video.

1) Yes, it is done and available for public consumption. This means that there are no fitment issues and plenty of clearance for the transfer case and extra driveline bits.

2) At "just" 22psi, we are making nearly 120% more power than stock. Stock 335ixs put down around 220whp on the in-house Mustang Dyno. Now the car puts down 519whp. This car also has 95k miles on the clock. Original engine. No internal mods whatsoever.

3) Besides the VFF Single Turbo kit, it has:
-FMIC
-Full exhaust
-Procede/ProcedeFlash (xi)
-PWM Methanol Kit w/trunk mount
-Spec St2+ clutch w/ SMFW
I believe the suspension is stock (though I could be wrong). Tires are Michelin Pilot Sports. The owner of the car is idspeedskater so perhaps he can fill in any info gaps I've left. Big thanks to him for giving us the car (and the time) necessary to modify the single kit to fit on a 335ix It's sometime we've wanted to do for some time and now it's a reality!

4) Yes, there have been changes made to the hardware and software to account for the xi drivetrain. None of this compromised power gains as far as the dyno says. At this boost level, non-xi cars put down 550whp on the Mustang dyno and baseline at 250whp. As expected, the xi baselined lower (because of the extra driveline loss and roller inertia) but picked up the same gains.

5) As idspeedskater can probably attest to, the car drives great! The xi drivetrain seems more than capable of handling the extra power. With the Pilot Sports alone, it puts down every last bit of power to the ground with NO WHEELSPIN. Making it pretty devastating in daily traffic. Going WOT up hills or on rough surface will cause some wheelspin but the car still pulls HARD forward unlike wheelspin in a rwd car.

And of course, here is some video of the car in action. Nothing crazy. Just rolling out slowly from a couple stoplights and then getting into it with gentle 1-2 shifts. But it gives you an idea of how effectively it puts down the power. The way the nose of the car lifts up is pretty funny. The feeling from the driver's seat is pretty unreal. 1st and 2nd gear feels like launching my 10s 335i on drag slicks. But with less drama.

Awesome job by Shiv and FFTEC. Suspension is still stock and there will be more coming once I'm back from vacation.

It pulls like a champ and doesn't have that squirrelly feeling in the back end with all four tires grabbing hold.

I'll try to get the usual Mexico videos up when I'm back and will be around between days on the slopes back in ID this week

At these power levels, this is where the xi is a game changer if it can hold up. Should be very close to 10s at those power levels and traction.

While Steve's car was here, I took as many photos as possible. I'll start with some photos of the car as she arrived and the teardown. I'll sort through the other thousands of photos on my hard drive and have some more to post tomorrow.

Holy shit Would love to see what this thing puts down on the track. I assume it was running 93 octane during the dyno runs?
