Anyone know if you are supposed to reuse the oem rear upper shock mounts when you install new tc kline/koni rear shocks. I'm asking because the oem upper rear shock mount....the piece with the nut integrated into it with yellow foam, doesn't kit over the thread on the new rear shock. Plus the tc kline/konis come with several washers that make up for not using the oem mounts. The only difference is that there is no yellow foam....its all metal on metal.

Is this right, or is there something that I'm missing when I'm doing the install?

There should be some kind of insulation between the washers and car body like foam, rubber, polyurethane...
Those Koni/TCK external adjust shocks, like Dinan, have a larger diameter thread than oem shocks. If TCK doesn't have/provide upper shock mounts that fit, you can get them from Powerflex or Dinan.
I'd start by asking TCK

You need the 12mm sleeve version of shock mount for the top adjust rear Konis. Stock is 10mm and will not fit. TCK sells them, Dinan, and also Powerflex makes a version.

you can cut off the nut on the oem upper shock mount and reuse the big metal washer with the aftermarket washer. I had this setup until recently when I switch out to strongflex poly 12mm upper shock mount bushings.

Wait, WTF...TCKline SAs/DAs are going to require a new top mount to allow for their setup and even more $$$?

Wow...great....I'm I wrong on this? I know they are not that expensive, but for their entire SA/DA kits which are $2100+ that include camber plates...they don't include this to rectify the issue they create on the rear?

I know, many say to get Dinan's rear mounts anyway when doing a suspension coilover upgrade, like these http://www.dinancars.com/product/d11...-335i-335is-2/

The TCKLine SA's reuse the OEM shock mounts. I bought brand new because why would you want to mix old and new components? The mounts are like $12.00 or something ridiculously cheap.

SA are 10mm and DA are 12mm, maybe?

The top adjust Koni rears I thought were all 12mm, including those in TCK's SA kit. Only the ordinary non-top-adjust SA's are 10mm but I could be wrong.

Well...going to call them and find out.

I'm going with the 400F/600R, no camber plates since the E9x already has a good range, and purchasing Dinan camber plates for an extra bit of camber...save some money and still achieve the same thing. I think the full camber plates unless you are doing track days and have access to constant alignment equipment is kind of a waste for street driving.

EDIT: Called them...they said they are all 12mm. But their kit includes the new upper mount, which is included in the shock/sleeve that gets replaced. So there is no need to buy a new upper rear mount the way the body is made on the E9x...

Also, they recommend 350F/600R on the rates. Anybody else with their spring rates want to chime in? I want to say PSS are around 380/560, or something in between. KWs around the same for their variants.

600 is too soft for the rear in my opinion. I went with 700 in the rear and the car still feels like it can use either 800 or 850 on the rear. Also, in my opinion the SA rear shocks are underdampened a bit even at the hardest setting.

...but that's just me. I like a hard firm ride with all kinds of vibrations going through the chassis.

^What about front you went with. I was leaning before I talked to them 450-500F/700R originally.

Then, they said for street 350F/600R.

I talked with broadway static about their coils, I just might give them a try. Their recommended street is 8k/12k, which is like 448F/672R...but they also offer hypercoil springs and their shocks are digressive and not linear. Pretty much choose whatever rates you want like TCKline..but their approach is a little different than most and really more inline with setups like JRZ etc...higher-end it is claimed. For the money, seems like a better buy, and you get camber plates.

Vasil is track oriented, for street the rates they give you are better and the shocks won't be under dampened.

For the front I am running 400# springs and they feel good both in the city and on track. For the coils, I run 1/2 turn from full soft on the street and 1/4 from full hard on the track for the front and rear.

Rear shocks feel underdampened when changing elevations at speed. Think of going over a dip in the road right before/after a bridge. The rear of the car will just dive too much for my taste.

That's a heck of a front spring rate. I run 450 front and 800 rear.

^Yeah, we will find out. From talking to a few people, the rears up around 800, no problems, but that front is a little stiff, but they said they will stand behind that front rate, if I have any issues, I'm sure they would let me swap them out for something lower if needed. Plus the shocks have like 24 steps of adjustment, a lot of room to work with.

I have the Fortune Auto 500 coils, same parent company/assemblies as Broadway Static. Running 8k/12k Swift springs. Only have about 150 miles on them, but from what I can tell, they ride great. Haven't tested handling to the limit yet, as I have a bit more work to do.
