30k Service....SA said everything not covered???

I just got back from dropping my car off at the dealership for the 30k service. I had a couple of complaints of my own including a squeaky rear brake and that stupid seatbelt assist arm.....

Anyways, so I was talking to the SA about what they were going to do, and he said that BMW "highly recommends" that you get the Injection Flush & Engine Decarb, & a wheel alignment. I said thats fine go ahead, but then he said they're not covered by BMW Warranty & quoted me almost $400 for them to do it?

Said no thanks and that I'll just stick with whats covered for now. But I thought EVERYTHING was covered?!? Isn't that what they say on the commercial on tv? Could use some here.....

BMW recommends .... or the dealer recommends

the flush is prob 55k stuff tossed in your gas tank.

my take is this service is unecessary.

I doubt that alignment is covered but the other job sounds bogus. Worst comes to worst, if the engine dies it should be covered. I don't think I'll be keeping mine past warranty.

Yeah, I don't even know what "Engine Decarb" would mean. Sounds like something they made up because it sounded technical. And "Injection Flush"?! I can almost promise you they are just going to dump a can of injector cleaner in it. Go get some yourself if you want to do that. Sounds like they hoped to sucker people in with that one. And I know at least some places (like where my roommate works) an alignment check is free, and the actual alignment itself isn't that expensive if you do in fact need it.

wheel alignment is not covered for sure. the rest is B.S.

you should get a call from BMWUSA asking about your service. tell them how it went and that you did not appreciate the 'selling' of the dealer's services.

BMWNA doesn't call me anymore for anything. Had a really bad experience a little over a year ago, raised hell about it, they added an additional 2 years to my BMW Assist to "make it better", but stopped calling me after my service appointments. Let's just say I was less than friendly to the BMWNA rep on the phone.

if you've been going to the same dealer, they probably switched a digit of your phone number to make sure you dont get a survey

My dealer charges $260 for an alignment but gave me an internet coupon for $199 but if you need a steering angle recalibration that is another $120. That's what it cost me to fix my alignment after the local tire shop F@#$ed it up and my car was tripping DSC faults. So what I have learned is pay the extra $100 and get it done correct the first time.

PS: if your car drives strait and your tires ware even just leave it alone.
