Brake Advice please

Hi Guys, I need to change the front and rear Discs and Pads on my E91 335i, but unsure what to get or where to go. Car is a daily driver family car, so want something reasonably priced but good for when the family's not in the car. Ordinarily I would just go eurocarparts and buy what they have, but don't want to waste money on crap.

Thanks
Greg

OEM -> http://www.leebmann24.de/

Should be able to get discs + pads + cables for front and rear for around £600.

Send the leebmann guys a message and they'll apply an extra discount (there is a thread).

Beware that it may be cheaper to do two orders rather than one, as delivery can go from 25 euro to 130 or something mad once you have too much weight!

It seems ECP actually stock stuff other than the £40 a disc crap too nowadays, so the premium ATE stuff might actually be OK, and dare I say Pagid too. Seems they are stocking multiple lines per manufacturer which is promising seeing as people have had a lot of issues with their cheap stuff.

And there are plenty of 20% off codes around which always makes ECP appealing!

Cheers Andy. Yes I noticed ECP do loads of different ranges now, just didnt want to order anything without checking what people's opinions or experiences are. Thanks

Lots of people like Zimmermann discs. Probably what I'll go to next. Most people pair with Akebono Euro pads but the braking feel is considered a step down from OEM pads. Much less dust though.

ECP are a gamble, but as I say, they seem to be stocking more than just dirt cheap now which is a recent development. You'll be a guinea pig if you go for it, but you can do a full set of their more expensive stuff for around £400 with a 20% off code which is a bargain for 4xdiscs, pads, sensors.

I'd say go Zimmermann too, however they only stock those for M3 as far as i can see.

Having had several issues with several 'so-called' OEM brakes, I'd recommend Jurid (sold by GSF I believe). They are true OE products and worth the money in my view.

Try www.buycarparts.co.uk. They do ATE, Jurid and all sorts of other manufacturers (ATE and Jurid are OE suppliers.)

Decent discounts are available too, and delivery is pretty quick.

I've got this exact setup on my E90 335i saloon front and rear and can confirm its a great setup. Really good braking with very little dust

Just to add they feel a lot better than OEM to me.

Interesting. Where do you source them from? Looks a bit tricky as they not exactly mainstream items. Ebay seems to be easiest for discs from Germany. Pads too I guess. They seem all over the US. Of course it's a pain for us on our little rock heh.

Yep ebay for both the pads and disc.

I got the exact part numbers form the manufacturers websites then found them on ebay. Discs were actually in stock in a place in the UK and the pads came from the US.

Do you still have the part numbers to hand? Or a link to the eBay sellers?

Thanks

Front pads: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2915162138...ht_1130wt_1206

Rear Pads: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2914724429...ht_1130wt_1206

With regards to the disc just check out Zimmermanns online catalogue to get the exact part numbers for your car then search for those part numbers in ebay or amazon..

http://www.otto-zimmermann.de/en/katalog.html

Just to add the ones I got were the Coat Z perforated ones

Fronts 150.3441.52

Rears 150.3430.52

Zimmermann discs as already mentioned but i'd recommend Textar Pads. Most pads - Pagid, Textar, Mintex, Jurid and the cheapo Eicher ones are made by TMD Friction but the qualities of each vary.

I believe Textar and Jurid are the best ones and made in Germany.

For disks definitely genuine from leebman, aren't that expensive. Pads, depends what you want from your pads

Looking at these, will they fit my 57 plate E91 335i? And is that a reasonable price?

I've mailed the company but awaiting a response.

I had drilled discs on my old 328i, the holes were frequently getting blocked with brake dust. Drilled discs do look Good though. Personally I'd fit ATE discs they are the same make as the calipers, Euros sell them. They do two options, I fitted the more expensive discs & they've been fine for 3 years

Originally had ATE pads, they were fine. But I have been running EBC red stuff now since February & I like them, maybe not everyone's thing though as they can be kinda bitey when cold & the way they stop you takes a bit of getting used to, but if you like a bit of hard late breaking they are fucking great having said that I have slightly cooked the front driver side disc would I have the Ate discs again? Definitely yes, the EBC red stuff pads? Most likely yes even though they are a bit unnecessary.

Ok thanks mate. Will certainly be easier to get than offering from Germany. Nice to hear real world experience and know I won't be throwing money away.

Thanks
