If anyone is interested we have some extra OEM N54 manifolds (about 2-3 sets worth I do believe) we'd sell if anyone is interested in doing something like this shoot us a PM.

To the OP: We'd suggest using some Weld Els (ie. 316SS or 304SS and Schedule 10+) for material integrity, reinforce the plumbing with some supports, keep the piping from the manifold outlet to the turbo flange as short as possible, and ensure you have some high quality TIG welding performed. Then if you follow suit of the other ST setups out there (ie. pre-turbo O2s, etc); you should be able to get good performance out of this setup.

We also offer many of the fittings for custom setups like this a la carte (ie. oil feed and coolant fittings, etc).

Thats way to small for a that turbine wheel. You'll make a lot of boost fast and fall on your face in the upper end. Ideally you'd want a .82-1.xx. The bigger the wheel the smaller the AR (vice versa) unless your going for major top end.

Rob makes some great points. How do you intend to brace the piping? The pics look like regular thin wall piping so it needs some sort of bracing I'd think. I did something similar on a previous car. Used regular piping similar to yours, but supported the turbo and another point on the piping itself. Never cracked.

Thinking of supporting it on either the manifold or a bracket off of the top and on to the frame rail (or whatever its called).

This is great input, i was not too sure about the size and didn't want to have to take forever to build boost. Thanks

This turbo will be a baseline. Once I complete the top mount, I could look into a better option.

Yeah, we used the manifold (weld a brace back to the one of the manifolds) to support the turbo instead. You are right it would have been a bad idea.

That is a looooong tube to attach the wastegate to. Not really good placement. You need that thing to be as close to the turbo as possible and a good clean radius off the manifold. Also, your jig is missing all of the attachment points that ensure proper fitment. You should have locating tabs and flanges that ensure all bends and flanges end up in the exact same spot part to part.

The pic of the Jig is not the completed pic. Also, the placement of the wastegate is due to the rather large size 50mm. Since the waste gate placement is modular (not permanent), an alternative placement could come later. I could go smaller 38mm and place near the turbo flange, we will see.

I would strongly re-consider a single WG setup on a manifold with such long runners. Not hating at all to be clear, it's cool to see someone take this on as a DIY project. Best of luck.
