Even though BMW AccessTUNER Pro hasn't been "officially" announced yet (hint: VERY soon ), the tuning guide can be downloaded and viewed to give you an exact idea of what the software can do and how to tune the N54 motor using AccessTUNER.

Would you mind answering the question I asked earlier on (see below) in this respect?

I observed that when running stage 2 + FMIC aggressive in extremely low temperatures (up to minus 10 degrees Celsius), the car was also boosting up to 18.5psi which - if it was load targeting only - it would not have done, as the load target would then be so high that under normal summer temperatures you would need more than 22psi to reach it (which is impossible with the stock turbos).

Therefor, the mechanics at least of the stage 2 maps is not based on load targeting only but also on boost targeting (which I believe in another thread was already confirmed when I ask the same question). However, the manual available on your website for the Access Tuner Pro only mentions load targeting...

In particular in view of maps for bigger turbos I think that is quite an important distinction.

I've been paying attention to this load/boost topic. Perhaps it is at a limit / ceiling value in both scenarios... do you have more than reported peak boost values available to support the departure from the load based tuning strategy? I know for Stg1 I run 2-3psi less in 30 degree F weather than 80 degree F weather (rel humidity also impacts things). I've logged and graphed, the boost curves over RPM are identical but roughly offset by 2 psi. I'm also interested why/how this isn't the case for Stg2 mapping.

Problem solved. Thanks Chris and Shayne @ Cobb Techsupport.

They fixed a new AP Manager software release for me.
Update AP -> Recover -> Uninstall -> Install

The car now moves like a monster. :-)
Cheers from Sweden

I intended to flash my 335i with a Stage 1 aggressive map with my new Cobb Accessport.
I have already mailed Cobb about it but I am afraid that it may take serveral days to get an answer since it is saturday morning in USA now.

Anyway.
The AccessPort stops flashing the car at 46%, saying something about communication error and tells me to check the cable and try again.
I have tried 4 times now. Same problem.

These are all the details about what that happened:

I updated the AP to the latest beta. It might have been 3440.
Ignition on. Plugged in to car.
The AP saved the original ECU.
Start flashing Stage 1, aggressive map.

Some error codes show up on the onboard car screen:
DTC fault
Tyre preassure fault.

The fuel pump starts, and is on, all the time.

Flashing starts, but fails after 46%.
After total of 4 tries, I give up.
Now the onboard car screen says Fuel Pump Error or something.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Is there any quick and good solution to this?
Thanks

Oh nice... you're already testing v400?

And this hasn't been brought up in a little while, but today I tried the linear map for Stg2+FMIC and, despite what seems to be the general consensus, I actually like it a LOT LOT LOT better than the stock throttle map... the stock throttle map felt like an on/off switch with the power and I would lose traction every time in 1st, 2nd, and in 3rd I'd either lose traction or the clutch would slip completely.

Might be the way I drive, though... I am coming from Dinan Stage 2, which I now believe is a more linear throttle map as well... so could be that I'm just used to that...

My main point, though, is that everyone should try both stock throttle and linear throttle maps despite what is most popular based on these threads... =P 2cents

edit: OH... and if you look in my sig, the guys over at VAC Motorsports in Philly are doing a REDICULOUS group buy for the Quaife LSD, which I've found (the hard way) is absolutely necessary in these cars... check out the link below... it's seriously a once-in-a-lifetime price... and I can attest for the work VAC does... this is their specialty... they're building mine right now... =P

Maybe you dont care as much since you have the update already? but the rest with stuttering cars would at least like a status on it since theres only 1 post from them every # of pages

Yeah, but the point is that they will release it when it's ready, and will certainly announce it big time as they've done with all other revisions in the past. Asking for it every five minutes will just clutter up the thread and will not achieve anything else.

I'd prefer they work on the maps rather than spending time on the forum, but that's just me. And if you really want to know, you can always call them.

I think that there is nothing wrong in people being anxious and excited for new things. Do you want to tell me that you never look at spy pictures on new cars, on new phones, new tablets, just wait for them to be released ? You don't research and read articles with scoops on different upcoming things ? It's the same here.

People will generally feel better if they are given insights on what's to come. Do you think it would hurt Cobb's trade secrets if they would say "we have hit a major roadblock and we are working on it", "we have 4 weeks of beta until release" or "we are concentrating on other plaform for 2 months" or such ? I don't think it would hurt. People would get their answers and stop asking questions.

Transparency is a good thing for a company, look at Google as a good example. Maybe it's Cobb's fault on how they manage communication and not the people who ask, which by the way, all they do is asking...

Do stock throttle map first, your car will feel slow at first on linear

I'm on linear now, took a little getting use to but I do like it.

Aggressive means it's for 93 octane. Linear means the throttle responce comes in gradually. Stock throttle means it comes on much stronger much sooner. I prefer stock throttle.

Yes, on both question. Hook it up-> select install-> stage 1v301 stock throttle-> give it ~20 minutes to flash and then

Read the release notes / user manual on the cobb website. All your questions will be answered. You should be reading it before hand anyway....
