Great event at Tremblant last weekend. Weather was nice and (too) sunny.

I got a nice surprise when I saw Master jgalaxy walking in the paddocks. Hooorray I had my NT01s to go play with.

I had a good 1st session with the instructor... help me set up for the rest of my weekend with a few pointers.

Most of my sessions were spent sliding all over the place. (Turns 4, 5, 8, 9, Bridge and Namerow) Fun drivers in the RED / A Group.

Nice to see George, Nikos, Jerry and Anthony.. Ken and Joel and others.

Next event for me : The Glen

WGI was a blast this week. It was great seeing the Ontario contigent again.

Low 2:13s when I was finally able to put some rubber down. A $10 plastic #@%!*%!! shifter part put me out of action for day 1 and part of day 2. Big thanks to Ryan, Ross and team at Redi Imports for helping me out and finding me that part. Thanks to Kevin and his gang from Little Speed Shop for the pointers. If you are ever in a bind near Rochester, these are the guys!

This is on order. No more insane plastic shifter parts!

It was a blast for sure. I really liked session 2 of Tuesday where I was finally able to keep up with one of the PHOENIX AMERICAN MOTORSPORTS Mustangs. To make things clear... It started to rain and I had my NT01s while he was on Continental slicks. He quit while I went in to put on some better rubber.

On my way back from the Glen, the rain was such that I had to catch my car a few times from hydroplaning side steps. My Direzzas are getting weak.

Thanks to all. Next destination : Bogie!

CAE shifter imported from Germany from their US distributor. Next best thing to a sequential gearbox.

A beauty! Do you still need to use clutch pedal?

Yes, it's a fancy short shifter, so you still use the clutch. I'm seriously considering putting one in my race car. Note: If you're installing it into a street car, you may have to modify your center console.
Here's more information on the CAE Shifter:

Here's where you purchase it in the US:

what a video, no drifting!

I was under the impression that type of shifter wasn't gated, but rather pushed fwd to up shift through all the gears, and pushed back the same way to down shift.

A thing of beauty, tho, whats shown in that NBR lap.

Looking at your throttle inputs... you seem to have some more speed to get through the uphill esses if you would stop pussy footing there... It takes some great big ones to go all the way at 100% throttle

You shift from 5th to 4th to 3rd at turn 1. Wouldn't it be easier to shift directly to 3rd from 5th?

And you go to 4th gear for a very short distance just before joining the NASCAR straight... I keep in 3rd albeit revving pretty high.

All in all, your lap is faster by about 2 seconds from my best one.

I had a few great sessions, but it was very hard to find clear laps like the one you had at the last session. It was a great event.

Thanks Joel to be part of it.

Oh and BTW I have just sent in my payment for ASE @ CTMP in Oct.

The shifter was always in the back of my mind, wondering if it was going to pop out. I tried a few experiments of doing 3rd and 4th in various areas to compare results in data acquisition software. Very telling.

I had a consistent number of 2:15s as the average with a fastest lap of 2:13.79. I look forward to going back. Breaking into 2:12 should achievable. I need to push harder as I barely came close to the cars limits. The nut behind the wheel still needs some tightening.

I had loads of fun once I finally got out there. My session in the rain with the Nittos was interesting. Cement, pavement, half and half, new and older asphalt ... lots of rain, little rain, initially and later ... All made the car behave very differently. Lots of wheel spin, under-steer, all sorts of fun ass puckering.

On the Nittos I brought the car up to 150Kmh half on the dry and wet line and ended up hydroplaning down the front straight and had to let the car pull where it wanted to go. A short praying session with the track gods for some grip was all that was needed and dumped enough speed to make turn 1. I'll change out the tires the next time around for the rain tires. Should save me a few grey hairs.

Thanks for coming out. It was great seeing the gang again.

I'm looking at BMW Qc for Lise in Octl. They are doing a women's event around that same time. I'll need to see if that coincides. I'll let you know this weekend.

so after day one of the Patroon/Ottawa event and it is clear that BMW Quebec need to up their game for advanced solo drivers. I had 6 X 25mins sessions today, some with racers, some with instructors... every session is followed by a 5 to 10 minutes debrief with Klaus. Trillium gives a little more track time.

2" 28 secs was my best today with bad tires and a very greasy track. I wasn't pushing it one bit. Enjoying smooth inputs and great sessions with my fellow lappers.

There's a brand new M3 out there but sadly it's an automatic.

Tomorrow we get 3 X 30 mins and then 4 X 25 mins.
Sunday is back to 6 X 25 mins.

But you have to be signed up as a Solo

Don't forget Calabogie does not have 30 car max limit that LCMT has ....

I spoke to Henry today, and you are right. I retrack my statement. City of Mont-Tremblant does not permit more than 30 so doing more track time is not easy.

You spoke with Henry, does that mean you are coming Thursday?

If we lived say only 1.5 hours away (not 3 like now) from Calabogie we would have gone there more often and enjoyed the higher track time.

Hopefully the weather forecast is wrong, as of now forecast for Wednesday/Thursday lots of rain.....

Great Track Day

with Gewow and Genesis380 today at Tremblant. No cars were hurt, best session was last one!

My instructor drove my car and he noticed:
- suspension a little weak for the tires (lots of body roll - i knew I did not imagine this )
- brakes very good, but something scraping in the rear, making it wiggly at times when braking (will need to have a check, maybe 1 caliper braking more than the other?)

He helped me shave some time here and there, the big wall seems to still be corner 10. But progress was made.

Fantastic day!!!
