BLACKLIST - Alto BMW. Went in there to think about getting a new e90. Was in there for about 20 minutes just walking around waiting for someone to approach me. No one even came close, so I left, they don't deserve business if there service is like that. Maybe it's because of my age. Will never waste my 40 minutes ever again to travel there.

they really need to learn not to judge people by their age...

My first post here be nice
Considering purchasing a 335i coupe, only problem is my driveway has a very steep section at the start and some cars scrape their rear when coming up it. My current 2005 GT Suby Liberty GT will drag the tow points if I have heavy stuff in the boot when driving up Fingers crossed the 335i doesn't have that problem, from brief looks the rear is not that low so I may be okay Going to start the shopping around process soon in Melbourne. Such a frustrating process, so based on other peoples experiences in here, 10% off the list price can be expected if I play my cards right ? |

welcome to the forum AndDee!
why don't you ask for an "extended test drive", that way you can see if the car cleans your driveway?

Thank you
Yep will defaintely be doing that, if the dealer won't let me drive it home with him (about 30 mins from Doncaster) I want to lend it for the weekend. How easy is it to get an extended test drive ? Of course I would take care with it and if it apppears to scape I'll stop! Serious If it does scrape I can downgrade to the 325i or the 335i Sedan as I believe the ground clearance is a bit higher, or migrate to an X3/X5 or Audi Q7 If I get the 325/335i I still need a new Suby for my snow trips! If I get the X3/X5/Q7 I can stil with the one car as it can do both. |

Another question, I will know this once I go in, but like to have some knowledge up my sleeve.
Rough waiting times for a 335i, from others posts it appears Jan-March next year ? This fits nicely with me as then I get a 2008 plated vehicle and I am overseas in Feb! |

335i coupe is my perfect car, but if it doesn't get up the driveway it's no good!
As I said I think the 325i is a bit higher and $$ cheaper I am pretty settled on the BMW and a cheap new Subaru for more an everyday car! |

Off to Doncaster today, they didn't seem too enthaused about an extended test drive. Will explain to them that I need more time to get a good feel for the car, if they dont want to do that, off to another dealership

manyways: Thank you
Well, the guy was nice but didnt really know that much. Pretty much got straight in the test drive, we took a brand new 335i Coupe, with 30km on the clock out for a spin! We were out for about 1 hour, and on the way back an engine warning light came on, along with the warning "reduced engine power" basically there was no turbo! Add to that the seatbelt assistance on the passenger side didn't work properly. So a brand new car with two minor faults, not exactly what I want to see when considering taking out a $100k car. I was told to drive the car back into the service area, I watched while the service manager and the salesperson talked. Basically the fix was to restart the engine and see if it happens again, went for another drive and it was fine and the car went straight back into the lot. Again, disapointing that the fix was to "restart the car" I would have thought they would have plugged their computer in to see exactly what was wrong. Anyways, I have a full day test drive next week, and they are going to take off the 19inch wheels that are on the car and put 18inches on to assist in my driveway. Will see how we go but one word to describe the car SENSATIONAL !!!!! Finally, the price I got today was FULL RRP, but at least he admitted it to me, and the trade in for my car was $25k, when redbook indicates private sale of $41-$46k, so alot of margin at this stage Will report back next wednesday and see what price I get and then manyways I may ask for you guy |

All dealerships try and pound you with a trade in. I was at a dealership not more than 2 months ago looking to flick a Merc CLK 55 AMG and they basically did EXACTLY the same thing offered $20k below redbook.
I walked out, when the called I told them I wasn't interested as they were $20k under the redbook value and I'd just sell the car privately and buy another brand instead. Good luck with it, and just realise you won't get wholesale pricing if you trade it. Your better off flicking it privately. |

Well the salesperson did admit that he was just giving me full RRP for now but he was serious about the tradein.
So full RRP and very low trade in not good. My last purchase was a Subaru, where they gave me a good discount off RRP and the trade in was actually just on the private sale mark! Again, he did admit he would do the number next time I was in, so we'll see how we go next Wednesday. No matter how good a price he gives me, will be walking out and telling him I think about it, and then go to another dealer to better the offer (maybe) and then back to Doncaster |
