335d, connected issues?
Hello,
Picked up a 07 E90 335d M Sport 3 weeks ago from a garage, 1st day I realised it had no torque but lost of power, 2nd day DPF orange light came on, then on every journey afterwards, checked the temp - 60 to 70 degrees - all info thanks to reading this site for days on end! So took the car back to the garage two weeks ago (on the journey there started to loose top end power also). I let them know what I thought was wrong with it, hoses or actuator, thermostat etc... They tried force regens which didn't work and decided then after a week to send it to BMW specialist who now another week later have found perished hoses and are to replace them all, when I asked about the DPF and low temp they said that al the issues are connected and the hoses will solve all problems, does anyone know if this is possibly the case as I believe they will be two separate issues? Due to collect the car tomorrow, really looking forward to it as I have never experienced it with both turbos working! Really enjoyed accidental discovering my car has comfort access, garage door opener (3 buttons on the rear view mirror), and auto dimming wing mirrors. Look forward to hearing your thoughts! Thanks John |

Hello John,
I'm not a mechanic but gut feel says it's unlikely they are all connected. The thermostats seem to always fail after a certain amount of time - I've never heard of another reason why a 335d would run cold. The perished hoses may fix the boost if you had a boost leak? Good luck with it.

Hi Ess,
Thanks for your reply, you are right, collected the car on Sat, boost problem fixed, DPF light still coming on, temp still low, got it to 70C, but it even dropped to 48C going down a hill after an hours driving! I have sent the car back to have the stats changed, so I hope the DPF will regen by it's self after this. I now have low rev boost pressure back but it seems to be missing something towards the redline now, I hope this is just due to the blocked dpf and/or low running temp. Cheers John |
