PTF hits the 1/4 mile and dyno with a local customer!!

A customer and his friend asked for a protune from us. One of them had never been to the track and the other had only been in a FWD car a few years ago. Track tuning is loads of fun and what better way to spend a Friday night - friends, cars, and legal racing!

The customer owns a 335is with a manual transmission. It has downpipes, fmic, intakes, charge pipe, and the stock 335is exhaust. Walbro LPFP and 50% e85 mix. We told him to do some runs to just get a feel for the track and get comfortable launching and playing with shift points. After a few runs he asked me to give the car a whirl down the track.

We couldn't believe it when we saw the slip. The car trapped 122.6mph FULL WEIGHT/ INTERIOR. The track was getting busy and a car had a small engine fire so we only had this one pass behind the wheel for the night. When we make passes in customer cars we are always a bit more careful than usual and this was no different. We had a local BMW dyno day today to top it off and the customer was having his car loaded on the dyno when we arrived. The car got 3 pulls and everyone was excited when the projector posted the graph.

The car definately has a little bit more in it. We will fine tune it a little bit more over the next couple weeks. The power under the curve even as it stands right now is incredible!

The following is the graph including a baseline of my bone stock 335i the week we purchased it.

Here is a log of the run.

We would LOVE to keep this thread on topic and all other bickering and tuning and fan boy wars etc out of it...is it possible? Check out my posts and you will see I respect others so please do the same here!! After all we are all here to just go fast! We probably will not post much in this thread as it is purely for results and to show how happy one of our local customers is. ENJOY!

Very nice numbers.. E85 is the way to go.. with upgraded turbos and a hopefully working hpfp upgrade.. Should be an awesome setup

What was the time on that 122.6mph pass? Didn't see it listed.

Looking great! Please post a full log (or at least timing profile).

What were you shift points and did you get any throttle closures running so close to COBB max boost?

Great mph man. Representation of how much power the car is making. Was it straight shifting or were you doing NLS? What I will ultimately want out of my 335 will be to be able to trap 125 to 130mph on a 1/4 mile. That way I can hang with most of the big boys in my areas and still be a little reliable.

as long as you take care of these cars, they are very reliable. Taking care of them means change spark plugs every 15k miles, oil every 10k miles, walnut shell blast the intake manifold, always use premium fuel with some E85 mixed into it helps cool the motor

That's my car btw in case my handle didn't give it away and the car feels great! And Jake just keeps fine tuning it! Definitely go to PTF for a protune! The 122.6 mph run's time was 12.7. Jake only had time for 1 run in the car. The wheels spun for a while at the start, however, Jake hauled it all the way through on that run!

Car: 335is 6MT loaded + 19" 313s + 235/265 PSS Tires
Mods: Cobb (PTF tuned), 5" ETS FMIC, Injen Intakes, ER ChargePipe, Forge DVs, AR DownPipes, Walbro LPFP upgrade, 5 gallons of e85 to 3 gallons of 93 in the tank at the time.

The car will go about 11.8-11.9 once I get a clean run in. Since I only got one I couldn't stay straight in first or second gear so lost a lot of time correcting the rear end. At PTF we tune for consistency and driver preference. All of the PTF tuned cars that night were trapping within .5mph of itself every single run. Unfortunately the track opened late and by the time the lanes began to run there were 45+ minute waits and cars were breaking down / catching fire on the strip adding to that. We usually get 6-8 runs in before 7pm. We go 3 runs total by 830 that night Only 1 behind the wheel for me.

We will have a few more PTF tuned cars hitting the track this friday I believe. Hopefully we'll get more runs in and have 2-3 cars going 122+ and if the track prep is a little better the ET's might match as well. Then we are going to host a PTF dyno day and grab the plots for all the PTF tuned cars in the area so we have a nice data set of different mods and levels of tunes

122 Mph speed traps on a MT 335is ? Wow great job jake. This translates to very low 11s for a DCT 335is with me driving it of course

Perhaps setting new record for no meth car in street trim

Jake,

What's with the big jump in trap speeds? It seemed that most of the stronger, stock turbo 335i's were trapping around 118-119 mph a few months ago and now we are talking about 122+. Is the LPFP upgrade causing this much of a jump or is it track conditions or something else?

Still low 11s potential, haha, sweet. The power is there just needs a driver mod .

If that DCT was doing 120 I am sure I could get 2 mph more out of it after looking at a dyno and some logs

We are ready when you are BuraQ! PTF will have a few more 11 second / 120+ trap cars after this friday night as well as long as we have good weather and it isn't as crowded (I've never seen capital get that busy that early).

Just some new tweaks and finally getting seat time on our shop car to play with shift points and such on these maps. I sent you an email

That DCT car still was running an unfinished map We will be getting together or finishing it via etuning this week. I expect that car to go deep 11s next time out.
