Come on though - the 320i seems to have very little positive written about it unlike almost every other engine - struggles to move a 3 series and appears to be riddled with problems (see the sticky on the technical page as an example).

I suspect the 320i driver was pi55ed off he bought BMWs lemon engine when the plan was to raise his social status with a "sports saloon."

170 BHP- 0-60 mph 8.0 seconds isn't that bad and not everyone has had problems.

Hmmm - that's not a bad output.

Heard loads of moaning about them though - both for driveability and for reliability. The 320i problems thread makes for very depressing reading.

Now I'm going to get loads of moaning thrown in my direction...

Agree there has been some neg talk about the engine and definitely not one of BMW's best, but my 335i was hardly faultless.
