e90 Build pathway?

So bottom line, i have 2 options. Just wondering what the "smarter" route would be.

technic harness 4/6
ms8
424
r4
earthquakes
(eventually amp the system)

or

technic harness 4/6
cleansweep or sum8 (which is better?)
seperate amp to drive:
424, r4, earthquakes

I would think the 2nd option is a wiser choice, given the separate amp is going to do the pushing. However I often read the cleansweep or sum8 dont hold a candle to the ms8 in terms of eq and processing.

the guy with the sum8 is trying to tell me it is superior to the cleansweep..anyone confirm this? havent found much on google...

although i found locally a cleansweep + signal summoning interface for a very reasonable price. Not sure what the SSI is...

thanks

There is a third option:

- code your OEM HU to HiFi (Professional Radio-only). Can be done remotely by forum vendor BimmerTech.
- Stereo 4/6 harness with RCA outputs
- JL Audio XD600/6
- DLS R4 front component set
- DLS 224 rear coaxial set
- SWS-8Xi underseat woofers

No center speaker required.

well now that is sorted.

all cables run (not connected), xd 600 mounted.

those included 4 wires with pins on the end are the jumpers for the underseats correct?
so just insert 1 to 2 and 3 to 4. and same for the passenger side right?

again this harness was perfect, good work technic.
also the e90 has a shit ton of room for the wire runs, good job bmw haha.

nice and clean

Correct -but only applicable if the OEM woofer connector has 4 wires. It is not applicable with 2-wires.

it certainly has a large 4 pin connector...but i will double check the wires.

im going to do the OEM speaker/xd600 route until the dls and sw8 arrive in the mail. ultra low on the gains i suppose.

i think its all sorted...except for the amp settings.

rca's ch 1-4 as labeled
input switch set to 4 ch
summon 5/6 from 13/24 (gonna have to research that...)
gains minimal

so the enclosure holding the 6.5" stock will fit the 8" earthquakes? or do I need to buy separate enclosures?

Once you set the input switch to 4CH then the XD600/6 will create the 5/6CH outputs by summing all the 4CH inputs automatically. No need to do anything else other than adjusting the crossovers for each pair of outputs.

To easily install the SWS-8 you will need spacers.

fantastic thank you

I have a template for the spacers and am going to laser cut some test pieces...however i think the template is for the 8" enclosures, so may have to modify that.

Can you suggest a cross over setting for the DLS r4, earthquake, and dls rear?

(input sensitivity to 0 .. why?)
for oem's im going to start here: (unless you have a better suggestion)
Fronts/Rears are HP 120 to 180
under seats LP at 200

Thank you

That will be fine... you can adjust the front HP all the way to 80Hz. Just try it.

Got luck with the post today, tracking said delivery monday...what shows up at the shop today? SWS8xi...amazingly happy.

Also it looks like the late 2010 e90's have different enclosures than the standard stereo setup.

minimal glue, and a smooth hollowed out bottom. No tabs to grind or anything.

WOW, the SWS8xi are fucking amazing!
i feel like im in high school again with my JL 10 inch.

0 midbass now, but that will get fixed sooon. I am very impressed so far!

I have made vector spacer templates if anyone wants them, they can be used with cnc or lasers and cut perfect spacers for our enclosures...i used 1/2" mdf and window trim foam. plenty of clearance
